I have had the following symptoms on my 2002 windstar almost a year ago, for about a week then it whent away(other then the fact the display would say the rear hatch is open) and now they have returned...

-if you replace the fuse it will either blow immediatly or will work until you stop driving then blow (not sure wut fuse i have to check when i get home, its under the dash by drivers left foot, its a blue fuse)

-brake lights dont work
-wont go into gear cause of it
-interior lights on sliding doors have stayed on before, for no reason
-interior lights wont go on
-key fob will only unlock certain doors depends how it feel on which ones it will unlock
-gauges show no gas

Here's my "wild guess" of the morning:

Your brake pressure switch ("cruise control deactivation switch"... F58Z-9F924-AA....mounted on the brake master cylinder) is in a failure mode. For a test, disconnect its elect connector...make sure the connector is clean and dry... drive that way for a few days and see if the fuse hangs around awhile.

If the above is not the answer... I have other wild guesses available.

the fuse that continussly blows is fuse 11, its a 15a fuse and controls the electric brake controller, brake shift interlock solenoid, and the rear electrronic module

is there anywere i can find online free shop manuals? or like a haynes manual for the 02 windstar? I am used to working on my rx7 so this windstar is new to me.

also 12 ounce i whent to look at the brake master cylinder is it the small harness that goes into were you load brake fluid?

also noticed another problem when the keys are in accesories spot and a door is open there is a constant beeeeep. It is in the garage so the rear sensor are seeing the garage door but the car isnt in reverse or on. and the beep stops if i close the doors

I found a wire that the insulator was cut a little and the wire had corroded right through, i fixed it but the van had the same problems. So i reset the ecm and drove around the problems seem to be gone. would this make sense or is there still something wrong and this was just coincidence?

As I said.. it was a "wild guess"... so you can forget the connection on the master cylinder. I was expecting fuse #10 ... not #11. You are on the right track... Rear elect module (not a problem I would guess), and the "brake pedal pos switch" and the "shift lock actuator" ( both good candidates in my book!).

I would start with the brake pedal position switch...inside the cabin at the bottom of the strg col ... senses pedal movement.

i disconnected the brack pos sensor, drove around my street and then parked it, well c if the fuse blows while parked.

Another symptom, when using either the keypad on the door or the key fob u can lock and unlock all doors a couple times then the driver side door gets stuck either locked or unlocked and wont mover unless you put the key in the key hole
