Can't pull latch to hood, hood won't open

I have a 1993 explorer and the hood won't open. I pulll on the latch and it doesn't move. I really need to add oil, I can't drive it. If you have any suggestions on how to get it open they would be greatly appreciated.

I just want to re-iterate that I cannot open the hood at all. So I can't get under the hood to fix anything from there.

Thanks.

Peek throught the grill. You will see a black colored cable housing and it connects to the hood latch. Look closely and you will see a thin metal cable with a small metal (usually silver colored) nub. To the side of the nub is the hood latch. Use a long screwdriver and move the latch to the side to pop the latch. You will need to replace the cable assembly. It usually is part of the under dash release handle with a long cable housing and cable.

I think I am just going to have it towed to the auto shop tomorrow. I will speak with them about what you mentioned. I figured it was something like that. I tried messing with the latch but had a hard time getting to it.

I need to get my cruise control fixed anyhow so I'll just get the once over before I drive my next 1000 miles in the next few weeks.

Your help was greatly appreciated!

I have the same problem with my 92, but i've found that if you bang the handle ( the one under the steering wheel) in, and then pull on it, it will sometimes open. You have to do it alot of times, though, and it's only a quick fix.
