I know a lot of us have more serious issues with our vans but if anyone has an opinion I would love to hear it (them).

I live in a big city or at least just west of on (Toronto). We have about 1/2 a million FM radio stations to choose from. In fact there are very few dead spots in the entire band. In any vehicle and home stereo I have ever used the local (toronto) stations come in very clearly. In fact so do stations from Buffalo so I know the signal strength from the transmitters is not my issue.

I do not feel that I am getting very good reception. Here are the particulars:

- Sony aftermarket tuner
- Checked local/distance setting.
- Played with multiple tone controls as a test.
- Chcked more than one station but I do listen to a particular local station most of the time with a very strong signal . (it comes in very well at home and other cars).

I am under the opinion that either the antenna that is built into my Windstar is substandard or there is a problem with my relatively new stereo. I am aware that the antenna on the Windstar is in the rear side window.

Does anyone else have reception issues?

None here, in fact I just bought a windstar, to tell you the truth, the factory ford setup gets more signals than my previous sony mobile es tuner in our previous car. Not sure why this is, but it's true.

Perhaps the installer didn't connect the antenna to the radio well. Or damaged the antenna cable.

Well I installed it myself. and I have checked it. I was thinking of perhaps damage in the cable from the antenna connecter to the rear of the car.

Well, A cheap way to test this would be to buy an aftermarket mast style antenna ,connect it, keep it in the car near the passenger seat, and see i there is any difference. Although it will be on the inside of the car, it should prove whether or not your current system has a fault.
