97' Taurus, High Beam always stays "on"

my 97' 3.0L Taurus GL, the high beam of headlights always stays in "on" status, even I switch off the headlamp control and turn off the engine. More weird thing is, I tried to unplug the fuses for "head beam" and "left side low beam", and the high beam was still on!

Now I have to disconnect the battery. Does anybody here have the similar experience and so kind to tell me how to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem. Pull the fuse under the hood for the day time running lights. It's in the power distribution box under the hood (in the 98). It is a 15 amp fuse. I think it was in slot 15 but im not sure.

I had my car checked, it's the broken DRL (Daytime Running Light) module which causes this problem. Now I have it passed by and ordered a used part (20$) on Ebay. A brand new one plus installation in garage costs 200-300$.

Thanks for the help. I have a '98 with the same problem also. I pulled the fuse under the hood and got the lights to go out. Now where do I find the DRL Module that needs replaced? My Haynes manual has been absolutely no help at all and I dont have an owners manual. Any help is appreciated.
thanks.

The manual for my '98 says the Daytime Running Lamp (DRL) module is located in the left front fender below the left headlamp. I've replaced the headlamps in mine and they are quite easy if you only remove the bolts that you need to. :)

I don't have DRL's so I cannot tell you exactly where in the front fender the module resides.

It will have a black 8-position connector with no wire in terminal 5.
