rod length power theory?

i read a theory earlier and just wanted to run it by you guys. o.k here is a example of what i was wondering. if you take for example a 350 chevy engine if you lose the longer 6.0 rod you will end up with more torque but if you use the shorter 5.7 rod you can end up with higher horsepower and be able to rev higher.would this be true? can you guys give me a few of the rules when choosing rod length? i believe i will be going with a ford 302 stroked to 347 but was just wondering about this theory. is it BS or truth?

It's not theory but fact. You'll have to deside which way you want to go, or what best suits your needs. Think of using a long pole or a short pole to move something. Which pole has the most power (Torque)?

so i can sacrifice torque for more horsepower with a shorter rod? is this what your saying. the car i am building will already have traction problems i will have to deal with, so i guess in my opinion i would rather have the hp than the torque. Both are good but i would think even a stock v8's torque could launch my little 2300 pound car. also if i can have a higher rpm ability with the shorter rod i would go with it.

also plan on running a single turbo so the higher rpm's will help there too. thanks
