1970 Chevelle Purchace.

Sometime in the near future I plan on buying a 1970 Chevelle, I would want one to be in fully working condition, paint isnt a problem, body rust is a no-no, numbers matching isnt a priority.
My uncle who is restoring a '71 said there are a few things I should check before making a decision.
He said one thing that I MUST check would be the rust behind the rear seats?!..
How would I remove the back seat cussion enough so that I can see if there is any rust.
He said that I just slide my hand inbetween the backrest and seat of the rear seat and pull it should come right out.. Is this right? Has anyone ever heard of being able to take out the rear foam part without tools?
Is there any other places where I should check for rust?
and if there are do you have any details on how to gain easy access to be able to see the rust?
Also the guy wants $4500 for this car.
Its a 1970 Chevelle 350 th350, new El Camino springs, a new cam and new quarters.

Most Chevelles rust out around the bottom amd lower corners of the rear window. It's easier to crawl into the trunk with a flashlight and look up at the panel then to pull the rear seat out.
If the car had a vinyl top, you can be sure it's rusted.
While in the trunk look at the bottom of the rear quarter panels. Water will collect in the trunk and rust the quarters out. usually the drain holes fill up with dirt and don't let the water drain out.
The front fenders usually rust at the bottoms also.
Metal patch kits are available for all these rust areas.
If you want to pull the rear seat out it's not as easy as you think.
The bottom comes out easy, just push it back towards the trunk and lift. This releases it from the hooks in the floor.
To get the back part of the seat out you have to unbolt it at the bottom,( after you get the bottom part of the seat out)
You will also have to remove at least one armrest to let the top part of the seat to slide out.
