Whimpy 2000 Ford ZX2

Hey i have a 2000 ford zx2,wich ran pretty good when it was new.It has a 2.0 ,5 speed standard setup.All i can say is its a tird.It really gets on my nerves cause its so slow.I mean it should at least,go faster i guess...Does anybody else have this problem,It has 60 thousand miles.The front of the car was in a major accident,and the entire computer,and associated wiring was replaced,because of damage during the collision.It also has had the timing belt replaced due to damage taken to the plastic timing cover.The timing set was replaced by Ford under original warrenty.Could they have put the timing set in wrong.It appeared to me that if they got the cam timing off by a tooth or somthing,that it more than likely would make more of a difference than just a power loss.any ideas?

get a cam gear and go to a dyno :)

Don't know about these, but if the cam was clocked wrong on the old escorts after belt replacement, they couldn't get outta their own way. Otherwise, they ran fine.

The gas mileage is getting steadily worse,and it lacks power.Im not looking to turn it into a race car,i just cant believe its lost this much power with my sister driving it.she is really nice to it.another strange problem this car has,is it shreds off tires.i have never seen a FWD car tear up tires as fast as this one does.I just put a oversized set of 65,000 mile futuras on it,brand spankin new,and they are bald like 6,000 miles after they were mounted.

The warrenty is over with,so the only shop it will be at is my shop.

If you are destroying tires that fast, I'd wonder if your percieved loss of power is just the additional drag of pushing the front tires against each other. You should have the toe checked out, just to be sure. You get any shimmy or pull from the front?

I just noticed this detail that I glossed over the first time I read it. You should really get the alignment checked and have the engine cradle, or subframe, or whatever it is called on a Ford, checked out for straightness and integrity. Also, there could be motor mount issues with a hit like that. Body shops are known to miss mechanical details like that.

and why dod u put on over sized tires? what size? that will take power too with a greater rotation size
