Fuel Pump or Filter?

Hi,

I'm a newbie to this forum but after looking it over, I am quite excited about posting here, both questions and a helping hand, if possible. :grinno:

I am not a lamer at vehicles but was never into Ford all that much.

Son-In-Law has an '84 Bronco (Bronco II?) with a V-6.

I have to go over there and get it running right on Wednesday. He says it runs for a very short while, coughs up on acceleration from a red light and needs to be pumped the daylights out of to limp home.

Some Joe told him fuel pump. I'm thinking fuel filter first? I guess, after a night's rest, it's same thing all over again. Pump would be all the time, don't you think?

Is there something you folks might be able to share with this Crazy Canuck from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada?

Maybe there are other bugs with this thing I should know about that cause this symptom?

Thank you all and forgive me if it's actually a Bronco II instead. Definitely a V-6 though.

(I'd sooner be posting about Mopar Muscle and how to make vintage 67-71's more muscular......but...... :rolleyes:.... a task is a task and this is my Wednesday task it would seem.)

I would say it is the filter. That is usually what happens when they are dirty
