Headlight Problem!!!

I have an 88 Bronco II. The other day I went to switch on the headlights and they wouldn't work. The running lights, panel lights and rear lights worked fine, just no headlights. I turned them off and pulled the switch back on and they came back on fine. Today, I used the headlights fine a couple times and then all the sudden I had them switched off while I was parked, and when I went to turn them on again, I had the same problem. All other lights worked fine except for the main headlights. I tried as best as I could to isolate the problem, but as it was dark there was limited options I was able to do. I am assuming that the problem is within the headlight switch itself or the associated wiring and will look at it more extensively during daylight. If someone has had a dimilar problem or can point me in a good direction I would appreciate any and all help.

I had the same problem. I Found that the turn signal switch had a bad connection and replaced it and it worked fine for about a year. Then I had to deal with the top plug that connects to the turn signal switch in the steering column....It melted from a loose connection. Ford said that I need the interior wiring harness because the connector is part of the wiring harness and that the harness is not available anymore. Great! So I cut the cancerous part of the plug off and rewired it myself because the Ford dealer told me that if a harness was available that it would cost about $500.00. You could check some salvage yards or Ebay. I hope this helps.

I had the same problem it turned out to be my headlight switch. I replace it and the issue was resolved.

It may be the switch (if you have the pull-out type). My 85 would do this thing where the nut (inside the dash) would back out. Then I would have H377 trying to get the lights to work. I just wound up reaching under and tightening it by hand whenever I had trouble.
