rear drum brake adjustment

I own a 1998 Regency with drum brakes in the rear,is there a special way of adjusting them other than using the automatic adjusters?I don't see any adjusting holes like the old days.

Yeah, when i changed my brakes my rear brake doesn't work very well. When i have my e-brake on i can almost freely move with minimal drag. I used to be able to lock em up...

Pump up the Emergency brake and release it, repeat it about 3 or 4 times

why not just take off the wheel and brake drum and run them out by hand, they still have adjuster bolts on the bottom, do that and you should be set. I wouldn't want to be in today's traffic with only the front brakes working properly.

Yeah, i took the my rear left drum off and i looked at it and the thing it's suppose to latch to is just kinda there.. Its not latched onto the little gear spinning thing. However, when i put the e-brake on it brakes, but just a tiny bit.

if you havent done it already, go ahead and put on some new shoe on and adjust them out, if your drums are scored or pitted put new ones one also, in my opinion they r cheap enough to replace instead of turning

The e brake is not pump.

i have a similar problem with my 92 eighty eight

i took my car into mavis and they said my rear wheel cylinders needed to be replaced and i had them done yet the e brake still doesnt stop the car i could put it on and drive and it wouldnt do a thing
also my front breaks shake like crazy when i slow down over 30mph.... im just happy my car likes me and that it stops

first off, im gonna assume you have good brake shoes on the rear? you said they replaced the wheel cylinder, if the shoes needed to be replaced they should have told you! does the e brake have any tension on it at all when pressed? if not the cable is broken. but it can also be out of adjustment or damaged or missing parts in the drum. apply the e brake a lot of times and release and retry it to see if they start to grab at all if not, there is an adjuster i think under the drivers side of vehicle somewhere ps. also make sure the actual shoes are adjusted out to touch and,or drag the drum when spun
