Civic V.S. Sentra

I have been talking to some people about which is faster, and i always get a mixed responce. Well I thought I would ask on AF.

A 2001 Civic EX (STOCK) with a 5 speed :grinno:

OR

A 2001 Sentra SE (with Performance Package- Performance Package is a factory option :naughty: ) With a 5 Speed (STOCK)

I have always thought since the SE has 145 HP and a limited slip STOCK that it would waste a Civic off the line. But recentally people have been saying since it has a VTEC the civic will always win. :uhoh: :sly:

The Civic has what around 130 hp? V.S. the Sentra's 145?

I always thought that the Sentras 145 HP diffrence + limited slip should take the civic but I'm not sure now.

nah the sentra se has.. 145 hp and 136 torque and weighs 2548.. the civic ex has 127hp and 114 torque and it weighs 2405lb.. so the sentra should be faster reguardless of that small weight difference.. and just to let u know.. vtec isn't that great..
hondas have vtec
nissans have vvt (im not 100% sure)
toyotas have vvti

Toyota = VVT-i
Nissan = CVTC
Honda = VTEC
Mitsubishi = MIVEC

I dunno Mazda and Subaru.

its not like vtec or vvti, more economical.. and less power boost.. all it does is smooth out the engine, if u feel any boost it comes from the intake i know it was cvtc but on their website it just said variable valve timing.. so yea lol

of course, power measurements are measured WITH vtec, so that 127 hp is WITH the VTEC therefore your friends are complete morons for saying that it will somehow have more power because of the VTEC.

I realize that it doesn't increase power, but it's still Nissan's take on valve timing...if they have a more performance-oriented version, I don't know about it.

Yeah variable valve timing isn't just exclusive to Honda, they just have the most recognizable term for it...azxnthuggies numbers being considered the sentra takes this...and for the record, for some reason MIvtec only has variable valve timing on the intake valves

Yeah, MIVEC only works on intake, and the Ralliart is SOHC as opposed to DOHC. A little different, but it's still a good car :)
