I have a 1991 ranger v6 manual trans and it is getting hard to shift. it is easier if it sits then drive it but after a while it gets harder. the fluid level is fine.

I've never heard of anyhting like that.... this is just a shot in the dark (I don't think this is the situation, but it's the best i can come up with) maybe it's not the clutch, How about the mechanism that disengages the clutch? maybe when you depress the pedal, it isn't fully disengaging the pressure plate from the flywheel and you are shifting against the motion of the engine. As time goes on ( as in general, not in one trip) does the problem get worse? if so, this could maybe make sense.??

If it has a hydraulic clutch you may not be far off.It could be a bad clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder

it was a bad slave cylinder and it is going to cost about $400 to fix. thanks for the help

you would notice if it was the slave cylinder it would be leaking fluid out of the front of the transmission (bell housing)

try checking the rear axle breather i know it sounds funny but i had the same problem when i drove from okla to indy. the breather should be connected to a rubber hose that loops around. if the diffs heat up it seems to screw up the tranny as well. good luck.

i have the same problem as you, but i jsut put new tranny fluid in and also put a new clutch in since i was already under the damnthing, it ran for about $150 with total, reall easy job, if you know what your doing, bu it shifts way better now
