Turboed Integra VS. WRX

a kid around town has recently put a small turbo(greddy i believe) into his integra. Rumor has it that his car runs 12.5's....i dont believe it but who knows. Im not sure of the amount of boost he's pushing, probably between 10-12lbs.

will a stock wrx pose a threat?

Um.. if he can run in the 12.5s, then not really. Actually, though, this thread belongs in another forum (Car Comparisons or something like that).

For him to be running enough boost to get into the 12s he would have had to have done a lot more than a turbo. He would have had to replaced internals, he would need an intercooler, and he would have to lower the compression.

That is a lot of money. I would need more info before I could say if he could run 12s or not.

Yeah, I doubt he's running 12's. Is it an RS/GS or a GS-R/Type R? Because if it's the latter, he's gonna have to put a lot of money into it to run 12 psi safely.

Yeah, i have doubts about his car running 12.5's. It is the Type R He works at a local sports store so it isnt like he is filthy rich and buying all kinds of parts. I am going to try to find out if anything has been done to the internals. I doubt it though because i see him all the time and that would mean his car wouldn't have been in the shop for a long period of time. He has the basic stuff( Intake, Greddy Exhaust). Intercooler yes. it is placed right behind the grill.

But.

I think it is all a buncha hype because it is the only decently worked on car that has a turbo in it. Everyone is scared of it i think; they havent seen a WRX.

Well, the WRX only runs a low 14 quarter-mile with a good driver, and it really dies off past 80 mph. So, if he really does have a good turbo setup running 12 psi, he can probably take a WRX.

a stock WRX traps at 93mph. however it runs a 14.0 on the 1/4. so that means on the highway a RSX type S can hang with it since it also traps at 93mph. a stock type R can walk the WRX since those traps at 96 mphs. and a greddy turbo kit for the teg is a hybrid TD05-18G turbo. quit big. its good for around 400hp, but as you see from the prefix, the TD05 part is the same small half from the turbine side of a TD05 16G which is a common turbo upgrade for DSM's. so a 18G is even bigger then a 16G.

wow, i didnt know WRXs' crapped out around over 80. that sucks. but then you have your upgradable UP and DP to help that out. Thanks guys

WRX's are like rally cars...made for the short sprint but not for high, top end speed...they can be made to be ther other way...but stockwise...they dont have the grunt to keep going after their quick sprint

In that case he can't be running more than six PSI or so. He would be stupid to run more on that high compression engine.
