hey, what do ou all think of these cars. im plannnin to get one. im looking at mustang 5.0, ford probe gt 93 and up. mx-6 ls, tauras SHO, or bmw 3 series form the late 80's. im looking to get some decent performance out of them. loos really dont matter, cuz i plan to make them look clean. i would say 5.0 no porblem, only problem is im looking down more into the 1500 range.

The only thing I could think of for SHO performance is www.shoshop.com

I'm sure there's more out there. I'm gonna say 5.0 though, so much more power, and it's engine is a little bit easier to find than an SHO motor (if you need to replace it).

man the sho would make such a great sleeper.

The reason I placed the SHO dead last is because almost every single review for it on Edmunds said that it had tons of problems, especially after 100K. Parts for it are also supposedly very hard to find.

lovin the probe in this comparison...nice look, decent quality cause its based on the mazda platform with mazda stuff (or so im told) and its relatively cheap....with a lil bit of power goin on

Mustang 5.0 no contest.

ive owned a 91 mx6 ls manual tranny, and it was extremely reliable and pretty peppie. it had 252,xxxmls. on it before the clutch went out. i bought a new clutch and its still running fine.
my freind has a 94 probe v6 and i dont know about relibilty. but it seemed very torquey! its alot faster! not sure if its faster than the 5.0 but it might be.

mustang 5.0 is pretty much out of the picture for now, i cant find one in decent condition for that price. o well i have found a few trans ams and such, so im looking at those now as well

I thought you were getting a DSM. If you can't find a 5.0, 93-97 Camaro/Trans Am with the LT1 are good too.

Go with the mustang 5.0 fox body. The cars are really light and if you wanna have lots of performance later on, the 5.0 will be able to do that for you. But the only way your gonna get a lot of performance from it is an engine swap, stroking, built block and nitrous, supercharger, or turbocharger. I would say go and get you a really good engine and do an engine swap.

ummm the 5.0 engine is quite possibly the best engine, why would u swap it out? that would make absolutely no sense.

plus here read this as i posted earlier as quoted by myself

Unrealistically, I would choose a Taurus SHO because it is has the potential to be a MONSTER. But realistically, I would advise against really buying a SHO because it is unreliable and expensive to maintain/repair, AKA the money-pit symdrome. That sweet sweet high-revving Yamaha v6 is the shit, though. It was one freaking incredible motor for its time.

I would do a swap because the 5.0 engine basically produces very little power. Especially compared to the engines of today.

ya or for the price of buying and instlling a new motor with all the extra shit needed i could have just gotten mods and been faster by alot
