I've been looking toward buying a sport coupe that i'll be able to upgrade with widely available parts. I also want one that has a usable rear seat. I was looking at the integra, prelude, and celica, but the parts for the celica are harder to come by. I was just wondering what you guys' opinion was.
Oh, and i'm talking like in the mid 90's for year
thanks a lot

moved from the prelude forum. you'll get less biased opinions in here.

Since when did the Prelude have a "useable" backseat? I sat in one and it was use-less!
I think the Integra is your best bet...get an ITR from 97-01 or so...best FWD handling car...so far!

the 4th gen preludes back seats are useless. they are the same size as the back seats in my 240. however the 5th gen preludes back seats are almost as roomy as the IS300 back seats. the 89-94 240's have the worst back seats. those are totally useless. it also depends on what kind of budget your on. but if i was you i'd stay away from the celica since they are gutless with almost no aftermarket support. it was the only car in your choice of cars that is slower then a stock 240.

How about a civic Si 99-00 coupe?
The back seats are usable. The car is somewhat peppy.

I'd vote for Acura Integra GS-R...the 240SX and Eclipse GSX are quite a bit sportier and potentially much faster, but I'd hardly call their backseats usable.

the eclipse back seats are ok, we fit 3 people in the back. teg an eclipse both hav a good amount of aftermarket support but i havent seen a lot of things for 240s

The 240SX aftermarket is HUGE right now.

i would hardly calll Skyline engine swap kits for a 240sx or supra engine swap kits little aftermarket support along with countless other turbocharged engine options such as the CA18DET or the SR20DET or even plenty of turbo charger kits for the KA24DET. along with countless brake conversions, chassis upgrade kits, body kits, suspension kits from every maker, plenty of drivetrain upgrade kits even strenghtend tranny internals from cusco. but yeah theres hardly anything for 240's. i mean who drives those things competively in drift events? or Wangan racing? or Touge driving?

how dramatic is the difference in rear leg room?
it says on edmunds that it's the same

well the difference in leg room on the 4th and 5th gen is a few inches. i have a few friends who's 6 ft tall. if a 6ft tall person sat in front on a 4th gen with the seat pulled back, my legs would hardly fit in the back seat. however if a 6ft tall person sat in the front seat of a 5th gen lude, my knees would JUST touch the back of the front seat, and i'll have space to move around. pretty big difference if you ask me.
