hello, im actually posting this for my brother, but he bought a racing steering wheel for his 98 ranger. It has airbags and i was curious if anyone has any experience removing the stock steering wheel and disconnecting the airbag. Im well aware that to be safe i have to disconnect the battery and maybe pull a few fuses as well so i dont get a face full of airbag. But if anyone could point me in the right direction as to how to go about doing this id greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

Disconnect BOTH battery cables (just to be safe) and wait one minute before doing anything.
You're going to wind up with an airbag light on after the installation. I took the passenger seat out of a Ranger and had to solder in a resistor to mimick the auto belt tensioner(also monitored by airbag module). Maybe you can do the same.
I wouldn't recommend trying to figure out the resistance of an airbag unit using a DVOM though.
