What is everyone's opinion about them?

Just depends. I used to street race. A lot. But came to my senses and realized that a track is a lot safer. People's lives are at risk when you street race, and not just your's and the other racer's. I've seen the affects of street racing, and they aren't pretty.
But since that's not exactly the subject you are asking about, I'll talk about that one too. I know a few girls who street race. One out of every 15 or so girls who actually race, are actually in it for the race and because it's fun, and she's out proving herself and her car. The others are just there in their auto civics with the fluffy steering wheel cover, or better yet, just their intake and exhaust. They are there for the guys and attention. That simple. They know that they will be 'cool' if they race someone, win or lose. Most of the guys will think they are a cool racer chick and pay them lots of attention. It's just the new fad in whoring if you ask me. Now I'm not saying there aren't any serious girl racers out there. There are. And to those I give my utmost respect. But they are few and far between.

This is so true. There are a lot of girl racers but there are few who are actually serious about it and not just in it for show.

I like street drifting, Japanese style! In Japan they street race in the mountins while drifting, which a lot of girls do there. I think thats cool, cause when your drifting, no way a girl (like the ones GirlSolRacer mentioned) can just have a ricer and go to get attention, because in drifting your car HAS to be set up right. I think its cool when girls race, just not when you have a fluffy pink car *cough 2 Fast 2 Gay cough* because they bring it on there selves, and then wonder why nobody takes them seriously. I never did see a girl street racing in person, but I have seen plenty of girls with some nicly done cars.

Yeah, I would love to learn how to drift like that. But I live in southern Louisiana, and we don't have any roads we could even halfway drift on.

How exactly is your Evo an Sti killer considering the Sti is faster...
EvoCrazy
08-26-2004, 02:33 PM
lol, Not true at all. The STi is faster than the Evo in 0-60, and thats about it. And the only reason its faster 0-60 is because the Evo has a bigger turbo, which mean it takes longer to spool. So, after 60 The Evo would take it. Now, when Car And Driver tested the Evo VS STi (you may have seen it on TV) the Evo won the road and rally races, even though it was slower to 60. Plus the editers said this themselves, they prefer the handling of the Evo. Now, even if the Evo was slower, I would still put that because we all know, how much Evo fans are rivals with the STi fans.

I think you need to do a little more research on those 1/4 mile times.
I do agree that your Evo handles better, but it's definatly not straight line faster.

Well, maybe not the 1/4 times, but definatly the track times. That was proven by Car And Driver, using a pro rally driver on the same cars.

Very true. They even had a show yesterday about street racing. They where talking about how it was cool, but then Fast And Gay came out, and too many people where doing it. After that, police started cracking down. Theres too many people that do it, yet have no idea what they are doing.

So in order to post on these forums, i need to be in full support of illegal street racing?
KrNxRaCer00

no, you don't need to support street racing at all to post here. this however IS a "girls racing spot" so obviously street racing will be a topic here.
everyone is entitled to their opinions, just make sure to be open to others guys. just keep it clean.

Isnt a Evo and Sti have the same turbo i htink its M3.
EvoCrazy
09-06-2004, 03:03 PM
No the Evos turbo is slightly bigger than the STis. Which is why the Evo is slightly slower to 60 (lag). BTW, I do not like street racing, too many dangerous kids who have guns now.

I think it's pretty bad ass for girls to street race since it's mostly a "guy thing." But what really gets me mad is when the chicks use their boyfriends' car to street race. How pathetic is that?

I had no change of heart. I have always thought street racing was dangerous, but I just wanted to know other peoples thoughts about it. So the next time you are trying to be a wise ass think about what you are going to say.

Street Racing is stupid. Not only is it dangerous, and too many thugs doing it now (thank you Craig Leiberman) but it takes no skill. I'm into drifting and road racing (I have been into drifting before it got so big and bastardised here). That takes skill.

Street racing is dangerous and stupid. I believe most people with sense can agree with this. But drag racing isn't stupid. I think maybe that's what some of you were trying to say. I enjoy all kinds of racing, I just wish there were more places around here to road race and drift. But there aren't, we have quite a few drag racing tracks around us though. I love it. I love going fast, and being faster than the guy/girl that I'm racing. That's what drag racing is about, being fast. I know, it doesn't take as much skill to drive in a straight line as it does to drift and road race. But it still takes skill, and a love to race. It's not like you just sit on the line and mash the gas til you cross the finish line. You have to stage, wait for the lights, hit your shift points right (I drive a stick for drag racing) and make sure you beat the guy in the lane next to you. It's all adrenaline as soon as the lights drop. Ya'll should try it sometime.

there is nothing at all wrong with street racing, if you do it right. people who street race on their commute to work, on crowded roads with minivans full of families on the way to grandmas, are stupid, and i hope that when they loose control the only casualty is their car and a tree, but it rarely happens that way.
I myself was very much into street racing at my old school, but we organized it. it was pretty much just flashlight drags, we would all drive out to a long stretch of road in the middle of the country, with little to no traffic, and block off the ends with cars, and used cell phones to communicate when the coast was clear. we would throw down bets, have a girl (sorry nothing sexist, just happend that way) with a flashlight in the middle of the two lanes, when the light turned on, we went, then someone at the end would flag the winner and give one flash for the left lane, and two for the right. so everyone knew who won. I only did it this way cuz i didnt want to pay fee's to use a track, and drive three hours to the closest one, to sit in line all day, pay 30 bucks, and race maybe twice, for no prize money. And with the mods on the list for the IROC, ill be running below the safty limit at most tracks, and dont want to cut her up to install a roll cage. and add several hundred pounds to her already "robust" figure lol.

Street racing is dumb in a way but at the same time its free racing and there is a smart way to do it...I would never down it on the highway cause some guy is revving at me unless the road was REALLY clear and flat I just might...now you have to agree that the track is expensive and whoever said it takes no skill to street race well your wrong...being able to shift fast and have a good launch and reaction time really does takes skill...if 2 cars were equally fast and one driver shifted jus a tad bit slower he would lose...yea sure drifting is fun and takes more skill but to me I would never put my car under that kind of stress...and racing on the street and on the track are 2 different things and can have different outcomes...you can race someone from a light and than race them at the track and it could turn out differently...e/t is not everything
btw sorry im not a girl just putting in my thoughts
