2000 Ranger XLT. Cruise control stopped working.
Fuse #13 on the inside fuse panel was blown and a new fuse also blew.
This fuse is for the brake position switch.
Bad switch? Other problem? How can I check the switch to determine if it is bad?

The switch is probably okay. Start by checking the wiring. It can rub the brake pedal and start shorting out. Do you have a bed cap?

I found the problem and feel pretty dumb about it.
I installed a CD changer behind the drivers seat. I screwed it to the floor. One of the mounting screws went right through a wiring harness and grounded the stop light circut. Stepping on the brake blew the fuse and knocked out the cruise control as well as the brake lights. Taped the wires and moved the mounting screw and all is well. I guess the moral is to watch where you mount things - look under the carpet!
