I've been sitting here looking through some random Camaro Performers and Chevy High Performance magazines...and I've read several accounts in which stock LS1 Z28s ran high 12s. So! Anyone got any stock or lightly modded LS1s running 12s? ...time slips wouldn't hurt either...

IF you do a search in the Mustang Forum there was a big thread about Stock LS1's in the 12's. Someone posted a link of a LS1 forum where there was a bunch of different modded LS1 and LT1 cars and thier times.

Oh...how stupid of me...I did a search in the Camaro forum looking for LS1 times...surely common sense would have led to me to search in the Mustang forum. Thanks!

We actually have a few LS1's here in SC that are in 11's with bolt ons. Off hand I can think of the mods of 2 of them. One ran 11.94 with only a lid, stall, Slicks, and a cutout. He even had 2.73 gears! The other just ran 11.68 with only programming, Drag swaybar, hal springs and shocks, stall, 3.73's, Mid legth headers with True duals, a lid, and a Chromoly K-member (he was on slicks with skinnies).
LS1 cars have awesome potential!

Yeah...those would be my first mods... subframe connectors, lid, exhaust, drag radials, and budget permiting some long tube headers. Hopefully that'll get me into the 12s. but damn...mid to high 11s would be even better.

i know my 00LS1 runs into the 12s with just Borla, all the free mods you can do, and slicks... its not to hard... the best performence for the buck I have seen on a LS1 is long tube headers and a cut out...

It all depends on ur elevation. Here where i live the only way a LS1 can get a 12 is with a supercharger. Low 14's and very high 13's for us.

a cutout? ....wow, is that your camaro z28 boy? the reason i'm asking and not assuming is because that's an SS..and your name says Z28 boy.

Elevation does suck... I have a buddy that has a 01 Firebird formula 6spd that is supercharged with 36lb injectors, reprogrammed computer, heavy duty clutch, moser 12bolt with 4:11's, and drag slicks... He can only get in the high 12's. I think we are at 5200 feet.

elevation... are you serious?? I have never heard of that causing serious HP loses.

air is less dense at higher elevation, so it is harder for the fuel to atomize and causes cars to run slower at the tracks.

everything affects hp: humidity, ambient air temp, elevation, barametric press, hell even the pollen count has an effect...

My buddies LS1 TA with a SLP y pipe and loudmouth exhaust and a spec 3 clutch. I was able to coax a 13.28@104 in it with the factory tires.
everything elese is stock. even the airfilter. (Well stock replacement.)

well even with all those factors (humidity, elevation...) do you really think it is going to be the difference between a 13 and 14 second 1/4 mile?

Could be. I have seen it before. High elevation Track with at 95* and 100% humidity you will see a much slower slip than at a 0' elevation track with 60* temps and 60% humidity!

almost if not everything can effect your 1/4 mile times.
