Ok, I'm a moron when it comes to cars so go easy on me. I just bought a aem cold air intake, but considering getting a turbocharger. Was wondering if the turbocharger replaces your intake, or can you have a turbocharger and cold air intake?

It would replace your intake.
The turbo charger sucks in air though the inlet, and then pushes it though the intercooler piping, which goes around the front of the car, through the intercooler, and upto the throttle body. The Filter would then be attached to the turbocharger inlet, there are ways to make a cold-air intake for a turbocharged car, however, alot of custom work, and not really worth it.
You should really consider reading up on how a turbo and turbo kit works, before you consider turbocharging your car. Its alot of work, and alot can go wrong if not done properly.

but you CAN have a turbo that sucks up air from under you car. Most pictures of turbo kits show the air filter pointing up, sucking hot air from the engine bay.
If you did not know the question to your answer, I suggest you don't get a turbo, cause chances are that you will not purchase the right mods...

Will not purchase the right mods? I suggest you either research a little on turbochargers or just buy a prefabbed kit, such as greddy.

why would you bother getting a cold air spot on a turbo engine...you have an intercooler so who gives a fuck it will always come out the temp of outside.

No it won't... Imagine this scenario:
90* outside. Your intercooler is 75% efficient. You can either have your intake in the engine bay at 150*, or outside at 90*. Your turbo causes a 250* temperature rise. Here is your intake temp with underhood intake:
150* + 250* = 400*
400* - 90* = 310*
310 x .75 = 232.5* temp drop
400 - 232.5 = 167.5* intake temp
90* + 250* = 340*
340* - 90* = 250*
250 x .75 = 187.5* temp drop
340 - 187.5 = 152.5* intake temp
So you'll have 15* cooler temps... worth a bit of tubing from home depot, IMHO.

only way a ic will be 75% efficent would be of heat soak ...and thats only standing still.

75% efficient is actaully a damn good air-air intercooler. Most are probably closer to 50%.

lol, this forum gets funnier everytime i come on.. effecency is rated with cfm's. larger IC have higher cfm effecencys. as long as you match up the core with your cfm output on your turbo you'l be fine.
and yes, you can have a cold pipe on your turbo compressor side and suck colder air into the compressor wheel, but it wont make much diffrence becasue of the centrifical force moving the air, heating it up. thats why intercoolers are important.
