I know that its good, and I know that it can be adjustable. I just dont understand what actually happens to the internals, injectors, etc... Does it just make a richer fuel mixture? I have no idea... NEWB.

VTEC is where.....at a certain RPM (5,000) for example, oil pressure activates a pin which activates the bigger lobes of a camshaft to open up the valves more for more air/fuel. I'm a lil tipsy right now... so bleh...

Basically is like having an economy motor and high strung motor in one.
On the SOHC the VTEC is only on the intake (if I remember right). At a set rpm point more air is let into the engine to increase performance.
On the DOHC VTEC the intake and exhaust open up for better breathing. There is definitely a better explanation searching http://www.google.com or http://www.howthingswork.com

It stands for Variable Valve Timing Electronic Lift Control. It's a system of cams and valves that pretty much give the extra boost to the engine when needed. It usually kicks in around 5k rpm's with a very slight kick and from there on your in a powerband of power. Oh and it's spelled vtec!
