Not us kiwi folks.......give us a holla when you've fitted 18's, it's in the weeds, has a custom one off kit, and you've turboed that ZC!!!;)

It will look sweet with a ride height reduction....Civic's always do.:alien:

Nice car though! Looks very tidy, the old owner must have been good to it.
And its certianly an improvement in performance over the old CRX

Enjoy it! :frog:

(but please dont cut the springs)

SiRedge - don't chop your springs. I have a set of heavy duty lowered EF springs if you want them. Huge drop, but you might want to visit the chiropractor if the roads are bumpy (kiwis have roads right? :p ). Yours for the cost of shipping and a case of beer. It'd save you cutting down your springs - that way you can put them back on if you don't like the drop etc. Only issue is that in true JDM backyard performance style, the back springs drop out of the cups when you jack up the rear :D On the plus side, they are wound not cut - even if they are 400lb on each corner :)

BTW, what year model is your Si? The bumper matches the one I had on my '88 GL except I didn't have the driving lights.

Alright, Mr... or should I say SiR... :D
I'd be game to give ya a race, but I'm not kidding myself, I know you'd have me by a second or so over the ¼ mile. That's about right if yours is stock, isn't it? I think mine will do high 16s, and SiRs do high 15s, don't they? Buggered if I know! Then there'd be my driving to consider... I don't know the car very well yet! Still, it'd be fun anyway!

Setanta: I'm keen on those EF springs you have - what would be the cost of shipping (plus a case of beer)? That'd be cool, it'd save me one hassle! As to the year - it's JDM, so it's actually 1987 - one of the first ones.

I wasn't really intending on cutting the springs... it has always seemed a bit suspect to me, and... how you say... Rangi? :lol2:

I know it isn't the quickest thing in the world, but yes, it is definately much quicker than my old CRX! I got a speeding fine in it the other day. :( I won't tell you the damage, but suffice to say I was doing 98km/h (61mph) in a 70 (43.5mph) area. Owtch! I wasn't happy.

Anyway, it's a lot of fun to drive - I've never owned anything anywhere near as fun, and somehow test driving random quick cars all this time (Read: EVO II, Porsche 944 S2 to name a couple) hasn't prepared me for owning the Si - I still really enjoy driving it. :D

I'm rather proud of it at any rate. I like the wheels, and it looks good tinted coz of the white paintjob. Add Setanta's springs to the package... nice! Thanx for all the positive comments guys, they reinforce already good feelings about the car :flash:

That's wierd...my Civic was a 1987 model as well...you will probably see it cruising around Dunno's....numberplate TC4060..

I'll find out monday or tuesday what the shipping is worth. It shouldn't be too much as it's only Au to NZ. Then again, they aren't light either :D

Well for you ppl that cant be bothered looking it up, heres the fine

since you exceeded the limit by 28 kmh its 35 demerit points and and a $170 fine, naughty boy:finger:

SiRedge
02-10-2002, 03:29 AM
Well, you got the demerit points right. But the fine wasn't $170 (this is NZ dollars here for you lot who are wondering), it was $230. If I'd been exceeding the speed limit by 30km/h not 28km/h, it would have been over $300, the officer told me. She was rather nice about the whole thing, actually... Still painful though :(

Setanta
02-10-2002, 05:51 AM
That's cheap... I have a feeling that sort of fine is over 250 bucks here. It's a while since I've been booked though and I ain't trying to find out :D

SiRedge
02-10-2002, 06:00 AM
Ow! Stuff that!

How low will those EF springs make my car?
Have you found out how much it'll cost to ship them yet?!? Sorry, I'm an impatient bugger!!

:D

Setanta
02-10-2002, 07:44 AM
This is the car with the heavy duty springs on them. The wheels are the factory sized 14" with 195x60x40 tyres:

http://members.dingoblue.net.au/~setanta1/sirquart.gif

Notice how close the tyres are to the guards? I could just get a finger between guard and tyre at the back. It's a very stiff ride though. The car scraped speed humps if you went over them too fast and the nose didn't like my driveway too much. The driveway is a down then up deal.

BTW - one caveat. If you decide you don't like 'em, send 'em back (unless Moppie wants them) :)

Compared to my current ride which is about 2 1/2cm below stock below:

http://members.dingoblue.net.au/~setanta1/civic-rearquarter.jpg

I maynot be able to find out costs until Tuesday... Monday I have a staff meeting after work and I'll have to get the springs weighed and costs calculated.

SiRedge
02-10-2002, 07:50 AM
Thanx for the info and the pix...

...But if it's that stiff I'm not so sure.

I'm not sure. I don't want soft suspension, but touring car stiff might be a bit too rough on the old kindeys! Ah well. I'll have a think about it when Setanta tells me how much it'd cost to ship them.

You foreigners get to have all the fun :(
Your car looks great! I like the wheels, they compliment the car well. My car came with old school 14" american racing wheels  They were hideous.

Oh, if you lower it then put a set of performance struts/shocks. Trust me, it makes the ride a lot more enjoyable.

SiRedge. Postage looks to be expensive :( I took one spring in to get it weighed and Aust post worked it out to be close to Au20 bucks. It may be less, but the size increases per spring added so the cost will go up from there. Give me a few days and I'll take the lot in to get a full price.
