Help!

I have a 99 Intrigue and it has killed on me more than a dozen times. It will start right back up but my mechanic doesn't know exactly what it is? Any suggestions?

Have you tried the fuel filter yet. I don't know how you drive your car or how many miles are on it, but you may check with the dealer(unfortunately) on any available computer reprogramming updates. It may be entirely a reprogramming issue. I also can't tell you any other specifics because you have not told me engine size or how many cylinders. Older Oldsmobiles that showed these symtoms would have problems with the Crankshaft or Camshaft position sensors, the ignition module, or even the EGR Valve needed cleaning or replacement. Pick up a Haynes and research a couple of things I just mentioned. If the car is dying, you should be getting some sort of stored trouble codes which need to be retrieved. Try with AutoZone, they will read your computer for free. Just be sure to write down the codes for future reference. Hope this helps -Chris

sounds like the computer is getting a signal to discontinue spark...that's more along the lines of a cam position sensor....especially if it starts right back up....have you had any luck with diagnosing the problem?

I will be driving and it just dies! Most times it starts back up but other times I have to wait 10 to 20 minutes then it starts. I have replaced the coil pack that didnt seem to help. checked fuel pressure it looks good, my brother in law says the fuel relay is more then likley the cause but Im not sure which relay it is! and Im not a mechanich (sp) and dont have the money to hire one either,so even if I did I wouldnt know how to get it off to check it! So my car is sitting at this point, so if anyone can tell me which relay is for the fuel pump that may be useful to me! Thanks for any suggestions or help!

Sounds like a Crank Position Sensor.

Well I replaced the fuel pump relay and even though it was bad that didnt fix the problem! So my brother in law whos a mechanic took my car for the week and finally it died while somone else besides me was driving it! He says he is back to his original thought that it is the fuel pump itself! So Im not sure what Im going to do! $118 for the fuel pump and I really just want to trade the car off on a new one but then it would probably be worth more if it ran right! Thank you for your advice on the crank position sensor I will tell my brother in law your suggestion!!!!
Have a good day!
