b12 sentra, 2 door, going for the sleeper look. looking to make a ballpark figure of about 450 hp.
im debateing between these two engines-
ca18det vs sr20det. please tell me what you would think to be better, or come up with something difernt from those. i know *alot* about both, just say which you would swap into the b12.
ca18det-
pros-
-iron block
-better enginered camset up
-more money went into makeing the engine
-cheeper
cons-
-not nearly as much aftermarked support
-stock parts harder to come by
-old dog of the nissan group
sr20det-
pros-
-hudge aftermarket support, anything you could think of, they have it
-engines more redally aviable
-less miles, usually
cons-
-everyone and there brother has one, tho not in a b12, but alot of people have one
-cost more
-less money went into making it
thanks

there is a reason everyone has the sr20. yeah not many people have a ca18 but the sr20 will be the engine to get you to your goal of 450hp. the ca18 will not.

I liked the power a stock ca put down. they are an awesome motor as long as you have a copper or metal headgasket. most people dont realize that the ca18det comes with forged pistons and rods. and a crank thats almost indestructable. We put a rear drive in an s13 and it was able to hold more power then the stock sr because of the internals. the turbo is dinky on the ca but its easily upgradeable. hell i made the manifold for it, to house a super60 and it loved every pound of boost. we ran 19psi everyday. infact my buddy still runs 19 and has been for a year and a half for a daily driver. well thats my opinion

I would say Sr . for aftermarket. swap wise I would say CA.
easier to swap. fitment that is less headache. my 2 cents

Why not just get a used '02 SE-R 5 speed and work on that since it has a bigger and better engine? Why does everyone think the SR20 is better than the QR25? There's a reason why Nissan got rid of the SR20 in the first place.

I dont think everyone thinks the sr20de is better than the qr25.. but for people who have a b13 sentra (like myself) the sr20de(t) is nice.. and i personally like the b13's body style a little more than the new ones... unless nissan decides to make a new 2 door se-r .. that would be sweet...
