I recently turned 16 and got a red 2002 Sentra GXE. But one of my friends said that Sentras are for girls. This has been bothering me and I was wondering what you guys thought about this. Here is a picture of my car:

I don't consider my car for girls, then again I have i/h/e, motor mounts, short shifter, coilovers, a system, and soon to have a clutch and flywheel. The gxe is kinda iffy in my book, but there are things you can do to make it less "feminine".

Is there anything inexpensive I can do to it?

mesh/billet grille will help, and that's cheap:

maybe lowering springs, but that will make your ride rough and will wear out your dampers in a year or so. Auto or manual?

Dude I'm sixteen too and have a 91 sentra xe; I can get almost any car I want but I wouldn't give my sentra up for anything. So your answer is NO they aren't. You should be patient and add things to your car until your friends start begging you for a ride! Oh! yeah and after the grill maybe you should search for some Rims. "There's nothing like a nice pair of shoes".

The ones that think its a girl car will eventually need a ride somewhere, then you tell them where to go.
Rims will make the car. I dont care what a car looks like the right rims go a long ways. If you aren't into racing a little bling bling goes a long way. At age 16 in a 2002 you better not be into racing!!! <<<Trust me you cant afford it. : )

Haha yea I'm not into the racing yet. Thanks for all your nice comments. Do you have any suggestions for some good rims?

Thats your personal preference. Go to www.tirerack.com pick your car and search through the rims to see what they'd look like on your car.
I bought my first rims at age 16, it was the best thing I ever did. The looks my Nissan truck got was incredible, and anything to keep the girls attention right? ;)

You did say you were looking for cheap things so try ebay for rims but be careful just because they are cheap doesn't mean the shipping is. yeah and maybe you could try a little window tint. lol I'll drop you a pic of mine when I get them off my camera.

Yea I'm actually getting my windows tinted this weekend. What's a good shade and please tell me specifically which windows get which tint if I need more than one shade. Oh yea and does the windshield get tinted too or not?
EDIT: I'm in Washington state if the laws make any difference as to how dark I can tint the windows. Here's a link to the description of the law which got too confusing for me:

This has to be one of the funniest threads ever.
Eggnawg.. Don't sweat what your friend says. Sentra's are often driven by girls but they are not "girl cars". I can think of some cars that are way more... "girl cars".. Examples.. Grand Am's. VW Bug, Kia's...
I would have killed for a two year old Sentra when I turned 16. Instead.. I got a 10 year old (1984) Ford Tempo.
The great thing about cars nowadays is that you can make them reflect what you like. So, go ahead an customize it. The grill and the window tint are a great start. Alloys are great next move when you have the money for them. Then you can slap on a 4 foot tall wing and a bunch of stickers and you will be all set.
The law in washington states that you can get side and rear windows tinted as dark as 35%. Understand that the lower the number the darker the tint. So 20% would be darker than 35% and would be illegal in the state of WA. There are technicalities stating that rear windows can be a little darker. In my opinion just one shade on all four doors and the rear is most attractive. But, it's your opinion that matters.
Their are lots of different tints as well. You can get black, grey, silver, brownish, copper, etc.. Or you can get colors like red, blue, etc.. You can even go crazy and get fades where they start grey or silver and turn to a color toward the top... Lots of variety. Choose whatever you like as long as it is a simple grey 35% tint on all four windows and the rear glass.
kidding.. choose what you like.
YOu cannot tint you windsheild.. that's illegal in every state.

.
dude a wing.....stickers consider yourself slapped!!! :disappoin :nono:
Just a little advice..... the flashier the car the more attention you get, including the 5.0. I was followed by the cops from the day I bolted up my rims to the day i graduated but still have a perfect driving record. I got stopped several times but they couldn't think of something to charge me with.
Oh and I wouldn't recommend colored tint. I know the silver and gold tint that fades top to bottom is illegal. Maybe cops aren't as strict in your area but around here they think anyone with a flashy car is dealing drugs and will pull you over for anything.

Dude plz don't get one of those huge "civic" vings what i see around here all the time and i smoke them all the time with my black spec. Back to the point though, your first step should be rims man nice 17" don't get too big it looks flashy trashl on sentra 1.8... Than maybe cai and headers and exhaust. Sound does a lot too...

does that look like a girls car??? it's my 2002 spec v...and it's killed anything from mildly modified DSMs (non-gsx) to BMW 3-series (not m3 lol)
You could buy the sideskirts and front bumper from a SE-R...then if you still have some money then get some used SE-R rims (17" which come stock wrapped in low profile nankang NS-1 sport tires)...after that a carbon fiber hood...
new/used se-r bumper/sideskirts = $300-600
used spec v rims (full set) w/ 30-50% tread left = $500-750
new carbon fiber hood = $400-700
new/used small spoiler = $150-250
That's anywhere from a little over a $1000-2500 to make your ride look very nice...much of these items can be found at your local junk yard (totaled se-rs are becoming a lot more common) and ebay has a lot of used OEM parts for se-rs and spec vs...people love to get aftermarket bumpers and stuff so the stockers get sold for cheap.

Im a girl, and i have an 04 Spec-V .. Also a 92 S13 Fastback SE.. and i don't really think my car is "girly".. but i do add features to it that make it my own..
i don't really care if people say it's a girls car or guys car only.. just as long as i have a car and that i'm knowledgable about my car.

yeah you can really make any car "girly" or not.. if you want it girlie, paint it pink, if not, then dont.. a car is a car, and different people like different cars..
