I have recently changed my ECM and the Check Engine light still comes on sometimes. Prior to changing the ECM I had a shop analyze my engine and it noted I need a new ECM and MAF sensor.
Should I try to clean the MAF sensor or should I just replace it? If I try cleaning it, what should I use?

Replace it. You can't clean it without damaging it.

I agree with Spit, replace it. If you try to clean it, you'll more than likely damage the element and need a new one anyway. Cleaning them rarely ever works anyway.

I agree that cleaning the MAF can can result in damage. But if your going to replace it anyway here is a little trick you can try: MAF's, MASS's, IAC's, and throttle plates can be cleaned with Brake Spray Cleaner. It's worked for me. Good Luck!!

I replaced my MAF with one I got from an auto wrecker. It is still working well after 2 years and I saved a lot compared to purchasing new. Easy to replace as well. I think 3 screws and a connector.
