Lowering Springs, How low?

My roomate put some Lowering springs on his 03 IS300. Dropped it slightly 1.5 inches or so but not what he wanted. Even with 18's it looked alright at best. The springs I have been finding claim 1.8 front and 2.0 rear drop (depending on car settling etc).
Now I am putting the same springs on my girlfriends 04 IS but I'm thinking about cutting 1/2 a coil off of each spring. I don't want to get crazy with the adjustable coil over set up so I'm asking if anyone else out there has done what I want to do and or do you think I should cut a complete coil? Alignment was done on my roomates right afterwards and his car drove perfect. So I plan on doing the same to my Girlfriends.
The brand is an off brand but my roomate didn't notice any abnormal noises or problems with his.. Just 1.5-2 inches doesnt even take up the wheel gap and I want more..
Thanks

I got them off Ebay, check em out at

My roomate used the same ones, Lowered it as stated but we wanted it lower. Car drove fine and suspension felt stock (didn't bounce nor was it stiff) so I figured for the price I would try them again.

Did you come here to talk crap or to help people out?
First off, don't ever judge me! You don't know me or where I come from.
Research and experience shows that these springs and Eibachs have the same spring rate and lower the car 1.5-2.0 inches. Eibachs are a brand name so the cost is inflated, these are an off brand so therefore cheaper. Do you even realize the actual cost to make a set of springs? They are a dime a dozen, BTW.. You're ($30,000) car is nothing but a Toyota with a non turbo Supra inline 6 cylinder in it. I was a service manager for a major Toyota Dealer for 8 years.. I personally would never buy an IS but that's just me.... I guess the resemblence to the VW Jetta would eat me away everytime I looked at it. In my opinion it is a nicer Toyota with bells and whistles and a great starter car or a great car (for example) my girlfriend.. Same parts different part numbers.. I came here looking for answers not critisism. So if you don't have anything positive to say then don't say anything at all.
By the way.. I NEVER commented on your $80 Vinyl job.. So instead of achieving the Jetta look you have singlehandedly accomplished the Civic look.
Now if anyone would like to help me out with my original post.. Thank you.

Thanks for the recommendation of the Eibachs..
Judging by your character I wouldn't think you would want to paint your $30,000 car, instead you went Vinyl which was a great idea.
A It's cheaper and B It's removable when you get sick of the design.

Well I got the springs (called Megan Racing?) I proceeded to cut exactly one coil off each spring. They are going on next Sat the 7th. I will let you know how it looks after the alignment and will post a pic if I can find my digital camera. If it turns out bad im out $60 and will have to put the stockers back on it.
