'98 Windstar Rear A/C Blows Hot Air, Lower Vents Only

My '98 Windstar rear A/C blows hot air only through the lower vents. I removed the rear panel, & the vacuum motor for the door is not operating. I traced the vacuum line to what appears to be another vaccum motor on what appears to be the water line from the heater core, maybe. I removed the vacuum line from this motor(?) and there was very little vacuum when the dash switch was activated. Any help would be appreciated.

You need to inspect the dash controls. Check for vacuum in and out AT the controls.

Unfortuneately, my FSMs do NOT include a vacuum routing diagram. Thanks Ford!

I had the same problem. I changed the dash control for the rear AC/heat and it solved it. It's very easy to do - took about 10 minutes.

What was the approximate cost for this fix?
I have the same problem.

I purchased the switch assembly for my 98 windstar in April 2003. Part number then was F68Z19986AA, cost was $22.42 from the local Ford dealer. They had it in stock. It is an easy repair once you figure out how the get the switch out of the dash.

I'll second this. I had exactly the same problem on my 98 Windstar and replaced the rear air/heat switch assembly on the dash (same part number F68Z19986AA). Works great now. Thanks for the advice guys and/or gals :)
