Water injection is basically a fine atomized mist of water that is sprayed directly into the intake stream after the intercooler and before the throttle body. It can be used in non-boosted cars as well.

See here: http://www.aquamist.co.uk/

WI:
*reduces risk of detonation
*steam clean your engine from the inside
*affectively raises the octane of your fuel
*cools the intake charge (basically a 2nd intercooler!)

if you get water into your engine, doesn't it seize? what are the differences in water injection vs. getting water in your intake?

... that is drastically different than pouring water into your engine. :)

Think atomized water droplets ... like from a perfume bottle ... small amount.
