dont worry... im not one of those guys asking how i can make an eclipse like the one in the movie, but i do have a question.
ok 1st race scene (ya know, the one with ja rule, dom, brian, chinese dude) right before that when they all pull into the 'alley' the eclipse enters and there is a shot of it from the front, look under the car where the street effects lights are, there is a tube looking thing draggin on the ground, what is that, and why is it there?? anyone else notice this?

Yep, I saw this and it bugged the hell out of me. Looks like a poorly hung nitrous hose.

it looks big as hell though, i though nitrous went through pretty small hoses....

i think it might be the nitrous tube, i rememebr once hearing something about eclipses having some sort of flaw like that where a certain cable or something has to be just hung low to keep it form getting caught on the internals of the car.

Nah I doubt it's that... probably just some kind of movie error. I dont think a normal eclipse would have that hanging down.

on a more interesting note the "chinese dude" is the only real racer in that scene. He was one of thier consultants for the movie and he is the real deal. The making of the movie feature on the dvd has some cool stuff like that on it.

That tube in not for the NOS, but for the CCU headers. Regulator.

haha yeah that chinese dude is RJ Devera, a famous import pinoneer. anyways back to the top, yes i know what your talkin bout, it just looks like a cheap cable for the neons thats poorly hung and it was dragging on the floor. don't worry, no body in their right mind would drive a car let alone beat on a car if something like really was hanging down like that.

Its for the direct intake manifold system of the turbo. It holds the floorboard in place. It was obviously poorly mounted, as its failure caused the loss of the eclipse's floor. If he had used a true direct manifold N20 intake running straight into the headers, and not the exhaust, it wouldn't have happned. Duh.

It's probably one of those bad ass grounding wire kits you buy for like 300 bucks.

Wow is this thread older than dirt or what?
...anyway no matter how legit of a racer/rodder he is, I would never admit to being a technical consultant on that movie - that whole damn movie was one big technical inaccuracy (I know this and I didn't even see it).
That's like bragging about being the martial arts consultant for a Power Rangers movie.

Hahahaha/....I remember the first time watching the movie in 2002....rented it at a blockbuster in Hong Kong. I was like...the fuck? What is that green car?? I had no idea what make it was from, let alone the model. Back in Hong Kong, all the cars we had were direct from Japan...so we don't see American cars.
I was asking everybody what car that was, nobody knew. Now, I know its a DSM, or a Mitsubishi Eclipse. ....its funny.
Anyways, I'm waiting for The Fast and the Furious Part 3. I like the movie, I like the cars, but I would definately invest in performance parts prior to making the car look good. IMO, they should use a Nissan S15 Silvia this time....that's one of my personal favourite cars.

It can't be that hard to duplicate...slap on a spoiler, green neons, and the body kit and there you go. The eclipse would be harder to duplicate, same with the supra.
Not to get off-topic, but has anyone else wondered why the Big Three haven't considered making their own version of these movies?

I dunno...it was hard enough to watch the first two F&Fs, dunno if I could sit through an entire movie filled with DHWMs...
I also don't really think that this movie was made or thought up by Honda, Toyota, Nissan, Mazda, Mitsubushi or the like. It came out in 2001, and by then the Supra, RX-7, 300ZX, 240SX, and DSM Eclipses had stop being sold on the market. I know that with 2F2F, Mistu used the release to market the Evo introduction in the US and to bolster sales of the new Eclipse, but other than that, I don't think the movie had any real connections with the manufacturers at all.

I like the movies, just for entertainment reasons. I was also wondering why Dom said "not double clutching like you should"? Could somebody please explain to me why you would double clutch while racing? Isnt double clutching when between shifting gears you let the clutch out in neutral and then finish shifting so the gears are turning at the same speed? That part just confused me.

Don't try to make sense of the movie... you'll randomly start bleeding from the head. Just let it go and move on.
But this thread has run it's course... lets let it die.
