Okay, what do you think are the most promising teams/drivers for the 2004 drift season thus far?

I think NOB may take it home this time! He is driving alot better!
As for American... I dunno! The US teams did not get far enough in D1 and I have not seen Formula D yet... But I like Hubbinette (SP?) and his Supra! He seems promising and more collected than even Rhys Millen!

Hubinette won Formula Drift Round 2.
Ken Gushi faced off with him in the final round, but broke an axle(his 5th) during the first run.
I was there. It was a really nice show. I wish Derek Rodgers and the El Camino had done better, though. He won the Drift Showoff on April 10th. In Formula D, he got eliminated in the first round against Chris Forsberg(sp??) and the Motorex 350Z(with an SR).
Alex Pheiffer wiped out on one round, hitting the driver's side front and rear corners on his Hachi. I think he still won the round, though. After the round, I got to meet him. His crew guy gave me a used tire, and Alex signed it for me.
Got pics of NOB and Tarzan Yamada too.

Samuel Hubinette drives the Team Mopar factory Viper, 1via.
And right now that thing puts on such a fire and brimstone display in Formula D that it's hard for the little four bangers to match it.
It's like Sport Compact Car magazine said about Paul Mumford's Viper "(the Viper) is a ringer for the dinosaur team."

Can't remember his name. He wasn't sponsored or anything, according to the MC. He said that the guy just came all the way out from Cali using the shop's money.

HMm as far as Underground drift is concerned I think the Japanese will be obviously leading the way,as usual. With countries like Australia and NZ after, due to the fact that people drift here on the street and arent fuckn pussies, and the culture is more care-free on the roads[yes compared to the US].
In America there will be a large influx of wannabee's getting involved which will see more and more civic's, camry's decked out dorifto style. This will cause conflict with the old school drifters who will get raped by police due to the new attention drifting will get..
I dont care much for the events, sure there cool and all, but nothing beats going out at 2am with mates in some old ass industrial zone in the country.
I also forcast a Huge increase in 14 yr old internet drifters, who just watched inital D. The Manga is for kids...
peace..just my opinion, dont get touchy if you dont like it
:)

Not touchy at all, but this isn't asking about "underground" drifting. We're concerned about the pro teams and drivers.
Personally speaking, I think that Forsberg is due. He's been running Hubinette ragged in that SR20DET powered 350Z of his, so I don't doubt he'll score a win in the next two events.
I'm chalking up 2004 as a learning year for RMR and Pontiac. They're being very cautious this year trying to feel out the setup and in all honesty that's holding them back a ton.

Yeah, Nobuteru Taniguchi. The HKS S15 driver in D1. I think he drives a green RE Amemiya-sponsored RX-7 in the JGTC too, or at least he used to.
