Hi! All, I'm a newbie to this forum, have never owned a BMW yet. But I'm a automobile enthusiast in general. I found this somewhat oddball per my understanding wasn't imported to the US. It has a 2000cc engine in it, it seems to be in fairly good shape. I few rust bubbles on the lower part of each front door, no rust in rockers and strut towers. It started up right away, and has a nice soudning engine, drivetrain. The current owner said these were not imported to the US, and he thinks it might be a GI imported car? Oh! And he asks $1500.00 for it

Does it have two tone red/black interior? Does it have twin carburettors? Fuel injection? There were a few different models using that body.
1500 sounds somewhat reasonable, if the rust report is accurate. I would guess at least $3k needs to go in for paintwork. The body looks pretty straight/complete.
I'd like to own an 1800/2000 someday. A guy I know has one and it is quite fast. The wheelbase is longer than that of a 2002 which gives the car more stable handling in high speed sweepers. Very fun, and very worth restoring/driving. Go for it.

It had solid black interior, with a two barrel carburator. Hard to tell wether it was a solex or Weber. Yes! Rust was only to be found where you see on lower door panel both sides. Trunk was solid, so did floorboards seem to be by just taking a quick look at it.

$1500 sounds fair, but try and get it down to like $1200 just for the sake of bartering.
Get it.
$1500 for the car, throw down another 3 or 4g's if you can, and that car will be badass.
