Okay I have a Bazooka amp that is putting out 500w but my two 10's are run in parallel so each gets 250w at most. My question is should i buy another sub or by a more powerful amp? Thanks in advance

Here is a theory, get a different box... I looked at that mtx box, it looks all wrong.

What do you mean? I know that is not an original MTX box it had blankput subs in it when I got it. And what I want from it is more low end bass. When the volume is very quiet I still want the subs to be heard.

For the best response you will want a box made to your manufacturer's specs, it makes a HUGE difference.
Prefab boxes are not worth the money.

how is that amp? does it produce alot of distortion? i've noticed that they are very cheap on ebay.....

and maybe just try turning the box around, it couldn't hurt, and it will prolly get louder in the cabin....

Thanx guys I am actually going to try both of your suggestions. Buying a new box and turning it around.

Don't buy a new box, try making one. Custom built to the manufacturer's specs is much better than a prefab new box.

FYI, most all MTX 10" subs are recommended for 0.75 - 1.5 c.f. boxes (sealed) or 1.0 - 2.0 c.f. (vented)...

I had thought about building my own box before but how would you get the exact 10" holes for the subs?

find out what the cutout diameter is for the sub, get a compass, draw a circle, then get a sabersaw or the like, and cut along the cicle, and file as need be (It doesn't have to be *exactly* perfect, so long as when you screw the sub down it seals; you're good to go)

Sounds easy enough. Which would you suggest for a box ported, sealed? Also do you know any websites that have diagrams for them, or should I just design (according to the specs) and build my own?

It all depends on what you want from the subs...

Try here for some background info: http://www.subbox.net/box.html

And here:
http://www.termpro.com/articles/buildbox.html

There are some programs out there to help you design a box, but they're pretty pricey. All you probably need, though, is to figure out where you want to mount, get a general idea of the overall shape, then calculate the dimensions you need for the c.f. you want to shoot for. This is for a basic, but effective design. Going totally pimped ('glassed, custom-formed enclosures) is another matter altogether. But building your own painted or carpeted box with good ol' glued and screwed MDF is not too hard to tackle...

Good luck!
