Chip guard

My Toyota dealer recommended putting chip guard on my front bumper. It's a plastic adhesive that goes over the paint, but they said that U/V light passes through it so the paint underneath it fades at the same rate as unprotected paint.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. I'm wondering both if it actually works and how well it stands up over time, if it will eventually bubble up like bad window tinting can.

Most stuff like this is just additional profit for the dealers without much benefit for the owner.Pass on it esp.if you don't plan on keeping the car long.

You're better off with a front end mask or what most people call a "car bra". The bra would probably cost less than what the dealer is going to charge you for the chip guard.

The put that chip guard on all the 3rd generation 4Runners on the front of the rear wheel well under the rear door. Works just fine.

Don't get the dealer to install it. There are alot of shops that do that for a lot less. Locate a shop with the second link above.

You can even do it yourself. There are alot of places that sell pre-cut film for any spot on any car. You can just buy a sheet for the front of your hood, or your mirrors or whatever.
