Wild Country Tires?

I apologize for asking what may be a newbie question, but what in the heck are "Wild Country" tires? Who makes them?

I just picked up my truck from getting state inspection where it needed two new tires. When the guy called me on my cell to tell me this, he told me that he could put the tires on -- the writing on them would be a little different but they would be the same tire I already had. Assuming he meant that manufacturer had changed the sidewall styling or something.

I ran in, just before closing time, paid and sped off without looking. Got home and see "Wild Country Radial XRT". :screwy:

Did a quick search on the net and can't seem to find out anything about them -- are these junk and should I be looking to get them off the truck? How do they hold up to winter driving (we get quite a bit of snow -- think Buffalo).

Thanks,

Dave

They are private brand tires and could be made by anyone.

But if you will look on the inside and find the DOT number, we can decode it for you. The number is near the letters "DOT", it is 10 to 12 digits long, and we would need the first 2 digits.

Is there any way to find out what the equivalent Cooper Tire is? (if there is one)

Thanks,

Dave

This might not work, but try this.

Look for the UTQG ratings on the sidewall and record them.

Then look at Cooper's line of tires and find something that appears to be comparable to the type of tire you have. Then compare UTQG ratings. If they are the same - that's porbably it!

Hope this helps.

They are made by Cooper tires. I have run them on my Ford 4x4 for over 2 years in Eastern Oregon. Works well on snow and mud. Also a pretty quite tire.

Tell you what! Let's resurrect a 12 year old thread and comment on it and think we are being helpful.
