chink car? u r canadian and u drive an american car, and u have the nerve to say racist comments? i am a white american who drives a chink car and i am deeply offended by ur comments. u have no right to say these things. shut-up and don't say anything else unless u become a descent human being and apologize. i am very surprised and disapointed u were not banned.

with that said- no, a prelude is definetely not a chick car. if u think u see more guys in beetles than guys in preludes, than u need ur eyes checked. the new beetle is by far the most driven by chicks. i can name 100 more cars...

Alright...I came on this morning to amend my previous post, to make it far less offensive. I was out of line, and I admit that, and having some time to review my response, I realize that in defending myself against an unitiated attack, I was on the defensive, by being offensive.

As for 300ZIT or whatever, he doubted my claim on the Cuda, I reffered to a specific magazine, and it's specific article, and yet am told to "put up or shut up"...IT'S RIGHT THERE! Now, since he can't spell, I assume he can't read, either.

I'm a member of this forum, like any other, and considering the fact that I DO own a big block Challenger, would think that buddy there would take my OPINIONS with a grain of salt...or does he attack any post who's views differ from his?

I'm 12 because I have an OPINION?? Gimme a break. Although I come here every day, I rarely post unless I have something worthwhile to add to a thread, but I do enjoy reading other peoples views, comments and thoughts. On ALL kinds of cars, and subjects. Again I admit that I was out of line, but I do not feel that it was necessary for ZITT to react in his immature way.

To everybody who I offended, I will ammend the comment hence-forth..to ZIT, realize that the world is full of different people with different opinions, and preferences. As for "unless you can play nicely with others", need I remind you, that YOU came at ME first?

Alright...I'm not going to waste any more time on you, or this thread after this

First of all, I am 32, not that it matters. I have had my Dodge for 11 yrs. I have also had an '87 Berlinetta Camaro, and a 5.0 Mustang. I NEVER said they sucked, I said that they are good to get up to 300 HP out of, and that a Tuner IS capable of mod's that will surpass that.

I also didn't start out bashing Imports..I said that a muscle car from the 60's and 70's came off the assembly line with enough power to take a mod'd Import, when comparing Projects remark about not losing to V8 Camaros and Mustangs.

Yes, I said that Muscle Cars are better than Imports. I still do, because that's my preference, and I am entitled to it, just as anybody else is free to have their own opinions and preferences. That's called living in a free society.

I have a few pics of my car in my gallery, and as for the article, I already gave you the mag title and where to see the article. Do you need me to buy it at the news stand, and come down to your trailer park to read it to you, too?? Sound out the big words FOE-NET-I-CALL-LEE?? Either check it out for yourself, or take my word for it. I sure don't have anything to gain by lying to a bunch of strangers in a forum about it. It's not like I said I had one.

As for my unfortunate remark, I said my apologies, and the post has been deleted..you wanna keep bringin it up, go nuts. I've made my peace. You've already retorted with redneck comments, and KKK references. How original. I mean, why not just say I'm the weakest link?? Perhaps an Austin Powers quote, as long as we're hitting these phenomena at the height of their popularity

And ban me because a magazine doesn't post their articles on-line?? wtf?

A year ago, CNN posted this article, where the 'Cuda was at 1 mill. Since then, the prices have risen.

http://money.cnn.com/2003/06/26/pf/autos/cuda/

an excerp:

"The real selling price of a car like his has probably surpassed $1 million, he said. He claims to have gotten several offers over that for his car.

"I don't think anyone today would sell their Hemi for $1 million," he said. "

I think I've defended that successfully enough.

Now, this is the part where you take my latest reply, skim over it as to completely overlook the facts, interpret it into your own narrow-minded, ill-informed skewed view, and instead of a well thought out reply, say something like...

"hehe 32, more like 13! hehe. you're a doody-head, and I don't wanna go read a magazine that doesn't have boobies in it, so it's easier just to say your dumb, and your wrong. My mind is made up, don't confuse me with the facts. "

Go ahead, pud....

anyway, comparing a V8 against a 4 banger for 1/4 mile or whatever is lacking in brain matter. Ello, V8... can we count the high number? I mean about the same weight, but so much horsepower. However, in terms of handling, 4 banger gets the pitch. And some modified 4 bangers with turbos or NOS or whatever, CAN keep up with V8s. As for Japanese V6s, they fall somewhere in between. They have excellent handling, and much more power than 4 bangers obviously (with a few exceptions). But yeah, the potential and capabilities of higher power is there. And with slight modifications, they can give V8s run for its money on the straightline. As for twisties and tracks (not drifting mind you), need I say which would have the advantage?

This is not a whiny opinion, it's a FACT.

I've seen late 70s 240Zs go above $40K (not fully restored) in auto trader. Not bad for a older generation 4 banger.

Auto_newb
07-09-2004, 12:09 AM
Why would a 4 cylinder car beat a 6,8 cylinder car in the twisties? All a 4 cylinder has is lower HP numbers...

What makes you think that it's an advantage anyway?

Two words- Weight distribution. It all depends on where the weight in the car is.

Z_Fanatic

Not to mention muscle cars are nose heavy and skid easily.

Weight distribution eh? What about a FF 4 cylinder car with 60/40, and some MR 8 cylinder car with 50/50 distribution (I dunno if it exists, but let's just say it did.)

naw man, i dont mean every single car does im sayin this. most cars in the v8 area are not good at handling. they have mucho torque and power, but are so damn heavy. they are the dominators of the 1/4, while it tends to be the lighter cars that are running the tracks

Jimster
07-09-2004, 12:55 AM
Then it's obviiously going to be different, but a V8 with tons of weight over the front axle is going to become a pain fast, it's all in how the weight is mounted, like I said.

Auto_newb

But what if it was a V6 instead? It isn't THAT hard to make an MR car is it? I don't see much cars with that engine drivetrain layout

Z_Fanatic
07-10-2004, 09:58 PM
because it's a hassle to work on MR cars, it's cramping a lot of stuff in a small area compared to front engine cars. so the labor costs are higher. the setup isn't so convenient. having your engine behind also makes it a noise issue. if you have a nasty fender bender from the back (which is more likely than front), either the weight of the engine pushes forward which could be a danger to the driver or the engine drops (may be that's what Ferrari cars do). Either way, the car is totalled.

If Ferrari was a V6, it might not be fast as it is. What makes it fast is the MR layout, mid 2000 lbs+ carbon fiber body, and raw 400+ horses to churn your stomach. And the top-notch handling to match it all. Without control, what's the point of power?

Auto_newb
07-11-2004, 05:19 AM
Hmm Ok one more question, if it's so hard to cramp an engine in there, why not make it a 3 cylinder or 4 cylinder, they're small and light.

Z_Fanatic
07-11-2004, 06:23 AM
Why would Ferrari sell I3 or I4s? Who's gonna buy it? And I think 360's stock V8 engines are pretty light, considering the total weight of the car.

As for having regular MR layout, well look at MR2 and MR spyder, all 4 bangers. While the spyder sucks, the MR2 is actually appreciating in value. It has a I4 turbocharged engine that delivers 200HP (non-turbo does about 130) at the weight of 2660 pounds. Not bad for sporty car. And though it has tenedency to oversteer/understreets while making sharp u turns, it handles great otherwise.

Plus MR cars are not so easy to work with. Think about the convenience of front engines and all the access to the parts. While in mid-rear engine, you also have a whole bulk of empty space big as trunk in the rear for tailights. So you're stuck working with small squarish compartment in the middle, between the seats and rear pseudo-trunk. So generally that means trunk is in the front, and its space is so small, it's designed to only hold emergency tire. In this case, it's not how small the engine, but the location makes it tight and cramped.

I think it's also an issue with what's popular, what's norm, what's convenient. Remember the old Beetle of the 60s and back? Well they had the engine in the back, but now, New Beetle has it in the front to align with FWD. To match with times I suppose.

Hoping to explore the conversation, while not initiating conflict, the problem muscle cars had/have with handling is that the factory used to use rubber bushings, and polyglass tires. A remodified muscle car with modern tires and poly-urathane bushings has MUCH better performance in the curves than what left the factory. Tricks like relocating the battery into the trunk helps balance out weight distribution, too.

With the mods done to my Challenger, I have 52/48 front/rear weight distribution, .98G's on the skid path, and pump out well over 500HP. Now, I went all out, so most muscle trying to retain their stock tin and looks might not go so far out, but it IS possible.

I participate in slalom and do quite well. Although most members have Miata's and Hondas, one guy has a 911, and he does well, too. I took him for a run with me and he was quite impressed.

So before returning this thread to it's original concept of "chick cars", I just wanted to say my peace. As for Chick Cars, my wife has a 1999 Hyundai Accent, and it's pretty girlie.

Heck, I don't know why I even bother, cuz you're just gunna come back, and instead of staying on the topic of the conversation, you'll have to make more pathetic insults and comments against me. Preludes aren't that bad, really. Well, the older ones don't look nice, but the later models weret so bad. I race them with my 5.0. I hate the sound they make with the big cans on the back tho.

I'm only new here, and dont want to get into trouble since I read the rules and regs, but is it really right for someone to say "chill out bro all i said was let me see the documents not hey your gay."

I read all of the posts and that muscle guy really got off topic, and was pretty aggresive, and even used a hateful word, but for somebody else to sound like using the word 'gay' is a big insult is pretty bad, too. I thought we lived in a new world where racial slurs, and homophobic terms were in the past. It's pretty hypocritical to say to ban someone for using an Asian slang word, then sound homophobic like it's ok. Can't we all just get along? Accept each other?

Even this thread is insulting to Prelude drivers. Saying it's a "chick car" insinuates that the men who drive them are "feminine". I drive a Mustang, so does that mean I'm more macho than the guy up the street with a Prelude? ok, I AM, but that's another story ;)

I agreed to follow the rules, that said I can be myself and have fun, but don't insult other members, and be respectful. I was a lurker here for a little while, and decided to join, and have read a few posts that were making fun of other people, or insulting them. I think maybe some of the members who have been here a while need to go back and read the rules agaoin, cuz maybe they forgot them.

"meanie muscle car guys. ban them. BAN THEM!!!! " hehehe that sounds liek Jason from Home Movies.

btw..how do I use quotes from other people?

I can see this post is becoming a lil heated and I don't really want to piss off anybody with my opinions. I find, however, that most preludes where I live are the last generation and all have a sort of off purple bluish color that can look femanine. I also notice that the majority of prelude drivers are women. so what? I also notice the majority of Celica drivers are women but I wouldn't look at a male driver any differently. Lastly I believe that with the right mods a prelude can look just gorgeous and pretty unisex

and to Crazy Canuck if you want to use other ppls qotes, at the bottom of everybodys post on the right corner there is a "reply w/quote" button which does the trick.

I thought people usually climb UP the maturity ladder. Since you rarely post, is this is what you call a worthwhile response? I am also intrigued that your Challenger has 52 front/48 back distribution, impressive, I am sure that's why some members here asked for proof. the 550K is for a 440 Cuda. The HEMI cars are what are going in the millions. The ad mentions this, which is why I posted the link. Not that it's necessarily true, but there are more than just one person who believes this, apparently.
