My head gasket is leaking at the right front corner of the head on the right side of the exhaust manifold the car is not overheating or anything and there is no water in the oil and if was just wandering if this was a common problem in the 2.2 mine is a 1995 cavalier just wandering if they make something to go into the antifreeze to possibly seal up the leak. If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

yes it is a big problem with those engines, i had to get mine fixed twice. LUCKILY FOR YOU!!! GM has a silent recall on those and if you take it to a GM dealership they will fix it for free.

i agree with jayson. my 2.2 had the same problem and every one and there mothers have the same problem with the same car but i know a friend that just got his fixed for free. i had to pay for my fix. it is a good car mine is a 92 and it runs mint. the only thing is that one problem the runs in the cavalier family. but i say you get that fixed A.S.A.P, there is ways for quick patching seal but it is really not worth it for alot of reasons

My Friend Has The 95 and he got it from major chevy (Major World) and he got his fixed for free, my car is 12 years old so im beat but from what i know its supposed to be 95 and up so maybe its just convinient for them to say no but its also good for you to go back and bit@ch a storm about it and finally they will fix it . tell them you dont want to take further actions or something. i mean think about it , if they said that it only goes up to 94 then everyone and there mothers, sister's cousin's nephew's grandma's and including me would get our cars fixed

once again i have to agree with jaison
you cant just ask them to fix it . you have to let them know the deal and tell them to fix it becouse they will do anything to escape from losing money$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ thats what its all about so if you dont tal up and speak your leak youll find yourself at the peak with red chicks and thats not to fun

i did take the car down before talking to them on the phone. Talked to the guy in charge of recall fixes, he had to call some headquarters or something, but it ended up getting fixed for FREE. The 95 2.2L 120HP engine. And why should he have to pay 800-1000 bucks to get it fixed when GM will fix it for free with enough bitching?

How does one find out about silent recalls? I took my 94 Cavalier into the dealership with a weeping head gasket. They ran the VIN and they only came up with recall on horn pad. Two guys on a fishing forum I visit also ran the number anc had the same result. One of the guys said he'd worked at a GM dealership for over 20 years and never heard of a silent recall.

the silent recall was for the original owner, its only good for 9 years or 160km whichever comes first, unfortunately...
I have the same problem!

Figures. I was 10 years on Feb. 10 but only about 113,000 miles. Looks like I'll be trying "mechanic in a can."
