Yeah its stupid for those dumb moderators or whatever to shut them down..it may not be a conversation that interests them but that doesn't give them the right to shut them down and its not as if every thread is going to have people agreeing...we need disagreement on topics it keeps us on our toes!

the mods probably read threads like this all the time and i would think they get stupid after a while. that's why they shut them down

There is really no reason for them to shut them down just becuase they are tired of reading them

Alright, i'll show you how stupid it can get:
Domestics are just better hands down!
:2cents:
i own a domestic, but i realized that imports are way better than domestic. imports are more efficient, better made, and more reliable than domestics. i will never buy another domestic again, unless it's a truck or suv.

The only thing that imports used to have on domestics were thier fuel economy and their longjevity, american car companies have surpassed most imports with improvements in fuel economy and are now more dependable and last just as long as the imports. And besides you should really want to support the american economy not the japs or germans

I have a Chevy Malibu, 3.1L v6 only producing 170 hp and eats gas like there's no tomorrow. That's just sad. I would think American car makers would be able to do better than that. They should easily be able to pump out 200 hp from that engine. The new Malibu v6 has 200 hp, but they had to raise the displacement to 3.4L (i think). The Fords are no better. Quality of materials used in the American cars are also far less superior than their Japanese counterparts. I should know. I think of it this way: If the American car economy really wants my help in the future, they'll start producing quality products. Other than that, my next car's gonna be japanese for sure.

The reason these threads get shut down is because
a) it seems they pop up in every darn forum on the board, the domestic forums, the import forums, the general forums...and it DOES GET OLD.
Now, I see the thread starter, 69mustang, is new here. Realize then, this type of junk floods the boards and can get rather non-civil. Also, when they pop up everywhere, it's just pointless and annoying argueing and flooding of the board with worthless argueing.
If you don't like an import, here's an idea...go buy a Dodge, Ford, or Chevy. If you don't like Domestics, then buy a Honda, Toyota, BMW, or something else. I mean it's your money.
The point is, these threads serve no purpose other than getting tempers hot. It doesn't keep you on your toes, it starts flame wars, and that is not tolerated in these forums. That's why they get shut down, there comes a point when you just nip the bud before it grows.
Now I could sit here and argue back, about imports and domestics, but why? I mean, let's face it. Not all American Company cars are manufactored in the USA, and not all Forgein company cars are manufactorered overseas. Hondas and Toyotas in America are both made in Ohio and Kentucky...thats a far cry from Japan or German. That is Americans Building those cars, at plants on American Soil. Now, is a GM model made at a plant in Mexico really supporting Americans? Sure, the design aspect, but no the manufactoring. Likewise, thothe HOnda and Toyota may be designed forgein, but they are made with american jobs. Gas milage really isn't better either. So American companies now get some cars into the mid 20's. Big deal, the real fuel efficent cars are the hybrids...40-50mpg. That's Toyota and Honda. Now do I want to drive a Hybrid...heck no...but that doesn't change that fact.
These arguements gets are ingorence. No one wants to look at the whole picture. They just what to chest thump that "this car is better." No one wants to civilally look at all the points and counterpoints. Threads like this are just stupid. I mean, read the first post in this thread...pure ignorence, no supporting of fact, no points and counter points, just an ignorant stupid statement. Much like the post 2 posts above this one. Posts like this don't serve any purpose other than trying to piss people off. Those are the type of threads that need to be locked, and that's why they are.

Most of us can see the whole picture...you had some points that were right and some that were wrong, there are no american car plants in mexico or foreign countries the main reason the big three don't do this is because of transportation costs of moving the vehicles back into the US. The predominate market for american automobiles is america thus there are no american car plants in other countries its no finacially benificial you can check on this and you will find that this is fact not opnion.
Now jap car companies have started to build manufacturing plants here in the US mainly for the reason I stated above this is also one of their largest markets and it saves them time and money to just have the plants here. Hybrids are not the only cars that get good gas mileage you are so far off..the ford focus gets 33mpg thats pretty damn good for a gas motor with no electric assist and there are more out there from chevy and chrysler. the neon cavalier sunfire just a few on a long list that his mpg's over 30.
Also foreign countries not just car companies but the countries buy steel from guess who..the US. So the quality of material are almost the same the design might be different but the materials are the same. Just becuase the japs build plants here to build their cars doesn't help our economy like you think..it may create jobs but these companies pay their employees far less than what the big three pay and all profit from these cars goes straight back to japan. So the taxes and wages we recieve from that plant are minimal. Theres threads are not pointless and are not chest thumpin contests as you put it. Its people airing their opnions which is the whole damn point of any thread weather someone gets angry or not it doesn't matter its not your business. You posted a reply just like anyone else would so either you got "sucked in" or you are just a hippocrite!
