Hello, I was wondering if anyone knew the engine specs for a 1986 grand marquis. It has the fuel injected 5.0 liter engine in it. I was just curious as to what amout of horse power and torque it had. Thanks.

I have a 1987 Grand Marquis with the same engine. I believe it has about 200 hp, but I'm not totally sure.

My girlfriend's dad has an '87 crown vic with the same 5.0, and he says it made about 268 when it was new. Could be wrong, but he's usually pretty good about that kind of thing. sorry, don't know the torque, but it's probably somewhere in the 200+ range.

Try about 170 hp :).

Torque - that's what makes those puppies move! Not sure of the exact number, but I suspect it's around 275 foot pounds.

Check out www.crownvic.net for an accurate answer.

I think you're right, I probably got the HP and Torque mixed up. I'm not that big on Fords, So I'm not too familiar with any of them.

I have an 87' EFI 5.0, and the factory specs from Chilton when I rebuilt the motor say it has 140hp and 170ft/lbs of torque. Sorry man, those other guys were just jiggling your balls. That's why I'm trying to source out what mustang 5.0 parts will transfer over.

I think 140 is a little low, I seem to remember seeing 175 HP and about 235 torque.

I know this is an old thread, but here's what I got.
Stock specs for an '89 GM with a 5.0 EFI is:
*150hp@2000rpm
*160hp@2000rpm(with dual exhaust)
*270ft/lbs torque @2200rpm
*280ft/lbs @2200(with dual exhaust)
As far as I know, the only diff between an '86 and '89 is the body style. I also know that '87 through at least '89, the dual exhaust was a factory option (don't know about '86, but would guess so).
