I am wondering what car i should get that has the following:Great handling, coupe, price range $2000-$4000,import,light weight,hp range 150-170 (sorry my parents won't allow me to have a really fast car but i will make it fast later on in the future.),difting, rally or track cars.
Thanks for your help. Oh by the way don't say a 92 240sx my older brother already has one.

Try looking for an BMW E30 318is, that'id work great and it would be original.

Dude go with a 240 and just build it differently than your brother. The s13 fits your description perfectly. Build it into a Silvia or Sileighty, (whatever your brother didnt do) then that way they are still different. But honestly it fits your description to a T.

Rx7, MR2, 240sx, Z31 300zx, S12 200sx... the list' goes on!

I would recommend against an MR2 for drift. With the right settings, parts, and drivers skill they can drift well. But it is more difficult to drift an MR2 than it is a 240SX. The 240 is more forgiving and predictable at the limit than the MR2 is with an untrained driver, or a person who doesnt know the car inside out.

I've seen tons of MR2's drifting, it happens to be Orido's favorite practice drift car, theres a bunch of videos on the net of em. But like I said, its harder. Not MUCH harder, but it is harder. The 240SX is an easier drift car, and drifting isnt easy.

But if you can learn to drift an MR2, you can drift anything. - Keiichi Tsuchiya

Get an RX-7. Everyone has a 240SX and MR-2s are too good to beat on drifting, not to mention it's harder. :)

Rx7, MR2, 240sx, Z31 300zx, S12 200sx... the list' goes on!

rx-7 - good choice, but not exactly a coupe(although they call them coupes, look like fastbacks to me *shrug*)

mr2 - is not all that great for drifting, the back end is too heavy, makes it way harder(can be done though, if you want to put in a lot of extra time on it) they can be good track cars too

240sx - good choice, fits his discription, but he said he didn't want one, so drop it

300zx - fat, overweight, bad drift car, not a coupe, etc...

S12 200sx - just dumb, not so much a sports car really, probably in the same category as a mid 90's escort(to me atleast)

you could get an AE86(85-86 corrola, just incase you don't know), it only has like 140 horses so maybe your parents will let you add intake and exhaust to make it a bit faster? and you can find them cheap, so you'd have money maybe to rebuild the engine and do suspension mods...

you could maybe find a cheap S14 240sx, like a 95 if maybe it has some dings or something(not up on the price of S14's so correct me if I'm wrong)

personally I say the 240 fits your description best, but if not that then an rx-7 or AE86 might suit you best unless you want to put in a lot more time with the MR2, its all up to you, forget most of what people say here...

's funny cause everyone always says everyone has a 240 but I'm one of like 3 people in my area who has one, and they don't even drive good. So it depends where you are really, but rx-7 is definatly a good choice either way.

I dont know about where you live, but car prices are pretty messed up,

I can get NA 7's for less than 2k, and most AE86's i see are'nt under 3k.

Oh and the 300zx that was referrd to was the Z31, which is neithr heavy or overpriced, unlike the Z32 which i think you are reffering to.

Get a BMW.

Sure its not as JDM as the other cars, but when your rust free, and listenting to the sweet music of the Inline 6, and your 2 way LSD(on the 325), you'll be ahead of the game.

Depends on what type of parts you're looking for.

Roundel has parts.

BMP has parts.

I don't know the addresses, but I'm sure they can't be hard too find.
Or go to 2002BMW.com (http://www.2002BMW.com) :smokin:

my wrecked NA 91 just got quoted as being worth $2750, I see AE86's in the summer a lot and have never seen one for more than $1500 most are 700-1100 though, haven't any lately, it is just getting into spring though so who knows...

yea I didn't pay attention to if it said Z31 or Z32, I didn't really care to look

bmw is always a good choice, that will probably be what I drive when I get to be an old man, not to put down the car or anything, but it just looks more normal for an old man to drive a bmw than an rx-7 or what have you :)

As the driver of a 530i, an automatic no less, I will say this. It looks like an old man car to some, but when you leave other cars in the dust by taking an on or off ramp at 90mph, it sure doesnt drive like an old mans car :)

You see old guys driving them because they want the best driver's car and they've probably been driving and racing and doing whatever with cars since before most of us were born. You would be hard pressed to find an "old man" who is rolling in a beemer that is a poor driver.
Even if the car happens to be an automatic 530i. You might wanna think twice before racing the guy.

I've heard this old man opinion before. I used to wonder about 2002's long before I got one. There was always this buzz about them here and there in car magazines and from loose associations of mine. I always thought they looked kinda geeky. Then one day I read an article in Road & Track about the Tii and how awesome it was for its day. I was walking down the sidewalk into town and there was one parked on the curb and I stopped and took a good long look at it. Once you've driven one, or ridden in one, the styling kinda makes sense to you.

That and the 510, which is basically the japanese equivalent.

Mate, what ya really want is a 72 Holden LJ torana with a 3.3l red motor, triple 45mm webbers, stage 6 yella terra head, huge cam, bilstein suspension all round, watts linkage rear, a ford 9" LSD, seam weld it, put a roll cage in and a couple of racing seats and harneses and go and learn. Jap cars cost a million bucks to fix, allways break, and being turbo are harder to control with your accelerator pedal. stay away from anything with rear leaf spring suspension coz they tramp, In Australia there is a huge drift scene but most of the cars that win are old, naturally aspirated shit boxes that have been done up. Go hard Mate!!!

Unfortunately, alot of people drive the BMWs for the badge, at least around here. But the people who know what a drivers car is, but dont want a kidney pounding ride or cant be arsed to mod a car usually by a BMW.

That's true everywhere. But it's pretty easy to pick apart the posers and the drivers.
They where the badge just to try and pass off as someone that knows what they're doing. You most likely won't see a 50yr. old man with chrome 20's on his car and 3 12in. subs in his trunk.
Your going to see them in a flat cap and driving gloves passing you on a hairpin.

-Where can I find some of those Touge O's? I'd think they go great with some doughnuts.-

Merkur XR4Ti, that 4cyl is very strong when modded. And if you dont like the looks, do a Cosworth conversion. Nice
