I really dont like the looks of the Forester. Its not a real class of car almost... part station wagon part suv... Its in a identity crisis. That might make it cool to some but not to me!!!

Agreed. It's too small and misshapen to be an SUV, but it's a little too big to be a wagon.

I think my boss has one. It's green, but not new. It doesn't look ugly, but I'd rather drive my car. Looks more sportier. Ig you can do that in a Kia. :D

Doesn't the Forester have that self-lowering suspension? First displayed by Subaru in the XT6

Rumor goes that an AMC Concorde Wagon humped a Toyota Echo and the Subaru Forrester came out...

I actually like the Forester quite a lot. It drives nicely, is good for hauling loads (the suspension holds its own and does not drop under the weight of moderate loading, nor does its handling suffer because of a moderate load).
While it's not my bag baby, I have to give respect to its solid engineering and good execution. It is very competitive in its class.

My wife drives one and loves it. It's a mellow little car that seems quite grand if you've been accustomed to driving a 1983 Toyota Tercel.

The Forester is too low to be an SUV, the styling is not good enough to be a Subaru. I havenīt seen any Forester in USA so far, but a lot of Honda CR-Vs and Nissan X-Terra. I think itīs for a makeover for 2003.

My friend has a Forester (2001 model) and I don't really like it that much.. The exterior styling is boxy and dated, and the interior is tacky and boring, looking like a interior from 1990.. And like some other said, in an identity crisis. Not really a SUV, not really a stationwagon.. but its not to big to be a stationwagon.. My Saab 9000 is actually 9-10cm longer (!) I think... Not too much space in the back seats either..

Hi All!
Well.... I have over 6,000 miles on my xt...well broken in, and starting to mod. It's a blast do drive. We even did a (almost) cross country trip in it, and it performed very well and was very comfortable. The looks have grown on me, and I find it to perform better every day I drive it. Body roll really is not too much of an issue, but the tires will defiantly have to go. Maybe next spring.... :)
Anyways, if you all have not seen the times for the 04 XT, here go.

Quite a bit faster than the WRX... (don't get me wrong....I love the rex. It WILL be my next car :) ). There seems to be a lot of miss info going around about the XT.
It is built on the WRX chassis, has the 2.5 STI engine that is de-tuned. Stuff like that.
Check out http://www.nasioc.com and http://www.subaruforester.com for all that info.

I have a forester and I love how it take the curves and its u-turns are also great.
I have a question, if anybody can help; what should I target to replace when the malfunction code P0483-Cooling Fan Rationality Check Malfunction is on.
any help will be appreciated.

howdy all. don't mean to but in but, my wifes cousin's family are huge subaru fans. 2 wrx's, a gt and 2 XT's. i wanted to know the feedback from some others before i look at buying one too so i came looking over here.
they reckon that the XT's are better than the wrx until higher speeds but will eat most things on the road. i ride a CBR954 so speed isn't an issue for me but i like the functionality of the wagon/suv style as a family wagon come sport car.

I just bought a "new" 2005 Forester... it had 5980 or so on the odometer, so I got me a KILLER deal on it since it was "used".
I admit, I thought they were hideous and wretched creatures, but it's quite nice inside. I like the dash and center console. It handles like a DREAM!!!! I can't wait to get it into some snow!
The reason I wanted a Forester was because where I work, there are all sorts of lifted trucks and big SUVs (it's in the boonies). I wanted something safe and sturdy so I can avoid a mishap with one of those, or if something would happen, I stand a chance of coming out alive. Did I mention I have driven a (nearly sub)compact sedan for the last 4 years almost exclusively? That is why getting an SUV was such an awful idea... it FEELS big. This FEELS like my lil car. Oh, not to mention that I wanted good gas mileage... Have you LOOKED at gas prices lately? ;)
