How long does it take you to finish a model?

One thing I have noticed in the progress section is the amount of time it takes people to make their models. Some people under a week and some people take as much time as they need. So I was wonder what is the average time it takes you to build a model from start to finish?

3mos+. I don't have gobs of time to work on them anymore, and I also have to be in the mood or it will come out poorly. This custom contest is a push to get it done on time.

I picked 1 month...
A bit of wishful thinking on my part. My average has been about 8 models a year for the past several years. :p

usually, about a month, The MPC 76 Monza in my sig. took me 2 months to build, but it was for a show so I put alot of detail into it, The Enzo will prohibably take me about 3-4 months to build. shortest build in recent memory for me was a Tamiya 350Z, which too me 5 days to build

I take about 2 months on kits because I figure im spending money on them so I better take my time and get them right.

I spend a minimum of three months. I am busy all the time. Not to mention I usually will do extensive modifications.

It seems to be taking me longer and longer to finish my models. I'm in college, plus my projects seem to be somewhat ambitious. I can't remember the last time I've built a box-stock model. I've been working on my 240Z model for about 5 months now. Hopefully, I'll get it finished in a week or so.

I don't know. I only started doing this hobby in January. I've got 3 models in various states of completion. But I haven't finished any yet.

Anywhere from 10 minutes (Gundam snap kits) to 3 years (Fully lighted Star Trek Voyager). Usually about 2 months on average, BUT I only paint my car bodies outside, because of the ventilation, overspray, and lack of dust, and up here it's so cold all teh time I only have 3 or 4 months to get them all painted.

Usually about a month during the winter, always start by painting the body then getting stuck into the rest whilst its drying.
Takes considerably longer to complete a kit in the summer beacause there are other things to do like sitting out drinking beer !!!
Later, Mike. :smokin:

Because I'm in college, I don't have much time to work on my models..I've only done 3, currently working on the 4th, but the 1st took about a month, the 2nd 5 weeks, the 3rd about 6 months and this 4th one has been on my workbench for last 3 months.....So I guess the 3+ months is the right choice for me...:D

Depends on the stamina and the interest of the project... From 2 weeks to 3 years and counting. When the project is too important and I have a big interest in it, it's longer because I'm a perfectionnist and I want everything to be perfect so the models is just collecting dust while I convince myself that it's not that bad. When I have little interest.. it's pretty quick... 2 weeks and it's done... like my 350Z... depends on the model too, the 350Z is a pretty easy model.
