Hi my friends just bought a 2002 camaro SS and i would like to know the specs on it. As well as the 1/4 mile time. Can it beat a STi?

325 bhp at 5200 RPM, 340 bft-lb at 4000 RPM.
0-60 is about 5 seconds flat, 1/4 mile about 13.5.
STi is a bit faster, and if they do a clutch-shredding 5000 RPM launch, you're screwed...
But if you run a turbocharger or supercharger on the Camaro, it will outpower the STi badly enough that it should hold an advantage.

are we sure about that hp rating? i thought it was closer to 345 for the SS. and i remember the STi thread awhile back and i think we came to the conclusion that it would be a good race but it would basically come down to who's the better driver...

My dad bought one. This is what the print out said.
HP: 325 bhp@5200 rpm
Torque: 340lb ft@ 4000 rpm
Redline: 6200 rpm
0-60 5.1 sec
0-100 11.8 sec
QM 13.5 sec @ 107mph
Pretty much the same as everyone else said.

I believe that a lot of guys who have dynoed their Z28'scame out with about 330hp at the fly.
I'd assume SS is a bit more. See, the LS1 is the same exact (take note) engine as in the Vette where it was rated at 350... So the "ratings" of 310, 325, Z28, SS respectively are too low, because how can you rob this engine of all that power. The factory specs are underrated so not to be too close to the Vette which costs 20K more. I think most LS1s put about 300 to the ground, somebody with a stock dynoed car help me out here.

actually there are a lot of things that the manufacturers do that lower the horsepower of these engines, that's exactly why most of us are here, to figure out how to put that power back into our cars. the easiest way they do it is in the PCM. all the companies have to do is change a few air-to-fuel ratios or some other value tables and the engine's power drops...

thats why all of those different programers are made.

i thought that the 345 was an actual figure cause of the dual exhaust the the functional ram air...

Thanks. Your ride looks sweet too! Looks clean jet black.
I had a 91 Formula and had all the decals removed so the car had nothing but black on the body with polished aluminum wheels. Everyone called it "KIT" saying it looked like a modern version from the show Knight Rider. :)
Black looks great but have to take time to keep it looking good but the rewards are worth the labor!
The thing with the NBM is it looks blue at one angle and in certain light it changes color. I like it best when it is looking blue though.
I bought this car on accident when I went to buy my wife a new 03 Malibu. They showed me this right after we signed papers on her car so I traded my 99 Ram Sport 4x4 in on it.
The SS only had less than 10K on the odometer.

Question, how can retune my engine back to Vette performance? Do I need a programmer myself, how bout this ACDelco place, the retuned my speedo on my last car?

dude, the only difference between a vette LS1 and a Fbody LS1 is the cam, really. The vette's have like 2 degrees of duration extra @ .050"
They both dyno the same numbers at the wheels
01-02's are anywhere from 305-345rwhp
98-00's are anywhere from 290-330rwhp (these are typically dynojet numbers)
As for quartermile times, ive seen just about any year of the LS1 Fbody (98-02) hit 12.9xx's.
Ive also seen about any year hit 13.9's or even worse. It mostly depends on the driver and DA/weather.
As for programming, your best bet is to get your car dynotuned with LS1edit. Good shops like Texas-speed.com, thunderracing.com, motorsporttech.com, lgmotorsports.com are really good with this work.
But I wouldnt suggest doing it until you get some engine mods done, that would alter the stock tune for the worse. ie bigger cam, !emissions
and yes the 345hp was obtained by ordering an SS with the "dual-dual" exhaust or Center Mount Exhaust and the blackwing airlid
