Hi Igor!...as you can tell, im very interested in this project, and i was wondering if it was going to be a sleeper or some show/LOTTA go! or what..because if you are going to do some body kits i think this one suits the 350 very well:iceslolan : The Nissan Z33 350Z Version-1 kit by veilside...its very subtle but very stylish!:sunglasse

if it gets a body kit I think you should use something that is not widely used so that it is more original and isn't just the same old same old. I hate seeing the same cars with the same old body kits, gets boring... anyways just my thoughts

yea, I see what your saying...i just think that it looks good..if there is something like this that isnt like evey other fish in the ocean that would be awesome!

Very little body work if any is planned for the time being. I see a possibility of adding a wing to increase downforce for better handling on the track, but a bodykit is unlikely.

I'd go for a more subtle look.
Maybe just some CF lips and canards that fit to the OEM body.

No color changes are planned. However, let's try to use correct spelling and punctuation for words - easier to read.

the wheels on that picture would be awesome to put on the car, skip all the expensive body parts though. but every performance car needs cool light weight wheels right? :)
EDIT: nice 17" 5 spokes would show off that pretty big brake kit nicely as well

thats an awsome drawing
if your going to do any body mods I'd suggest showing a pic of the car to the graphic manipulation guys and have em do something up for you
and i love the colour but maybe some custom decals would be cool.. I'd do subtle decals only slightly darker then the paint color so that they arent seen untill looked at closely

Sorry Igor about the spelling, I'll try to work on it.

if this is going to be a performance daily driver i'd stay away from major body mods, except maybe a mild lip and spoiler. the z looks great stock so i wouldn't change too much about it.

i totally agree, a stock 350 Z is a beautiful car, if it has to getta wing, go fiberglass cuz itll look way better and it will go with the car while it does the job of providing adequate downforce
jus my :2cents:

yea having a sleeper is cool but.....so is having a veilside ver.3 :naughty:  .....i think that this is the coolest thing ever. I would bet that there is not another car forum like this any where. that would be cool if you guys could get some sponsors (maybe as big as veil side!) to help out. whooop whoo

CF hood for the weight reduction?:dunno:

This is such a sweet project. I'd go for a carbonfiber hood, CF wing. Also just some add on lips sounds cool. For wheels id go for some thin five spoke wheels in 18''-20''. The exahust looks cool but i would have gone far a more japanese style big round exhaust. as far a color is concerned id go for black or purple to green colorchanging paint. those are my 2 cents. I cant wait to see the project done.

i think that the wing and hood are a good idea. How far is this project going to get. is af going to make it run a certain time , compete in a cartain race, a show, or just make it fast and handle well. WHAT IS THE GOAL FOR THIS PROJECT CAR. if af does put a lot of time and money into it they should atleast make it look cool. for example you should....aw you know what i am going to say.....VEILSIDE VERSION 3!!holla!
BTW-what do yo guys think of my afz chop?

I think that 10 spoke wheels would be perfect. 5 spokes are just too common.

If the car is going to be a daily driver I wouldn't go over 18 inches on the wheels. Then again I've never liked huge wheels. All they do is make you go slower.
95_GSX
03-21-2004, 02:44 AM
on the wheels i wouldn't go larger than 17" , i also like five spoke wheels. they have a simple yet aggressive look to them. body wise i would leave it stock the Z is a sexy car as it is. add a rear wing for more down force if needed and a CF hood for some weight reduction.
igor@af

The wheels are 18" for sure. Cannot go 17" due to the size of the StopTech rotors/calipers. Do not want to go beyond 18" as that will decrease performance on the track.

yeah i thought about the BB upgrade and the clearence on the 17"s, but i was also thinking that the 17" would let the Z run a larger sidewall for better traction and QMT. but you are building the car as an all around performer, so there are 18"s that are still a fairly light wheel that will perform well. plus i dont know the 350Z's that well you still might be able to run a fairly beefy sidewall under thos wheel wells.

Zs were designed to run with 18" from the factory. 17" wouldn't be adequate for this car ( :2cents: ). I'd rather trust the engineers.:) Hey Igor, how about volk Racing CE-28s? They'd look great and then I could build a 1/24th scale model of the car!:sunglasse

igor, did you manage to catch the tech article that scc did on their project z?
how they hit 1g on the skidpad with stock suspension?
they upgraded sway bars, differential, and ran the same size tires front/rear.
they noted that the same size tires (compared to the stock stagger) is much better handling, much more progressive, and has a better feel..
definitely something to consider!
if you're doing body mods, paint the cf hood to match the car, small wing, and not much else...

i might be able to help you with the body work ,i work for a company that creates wild agressive fiberglass bodykits however some of us have got together and have started our own bodyshop we think that a more classy and sleek look is better and want to move away from cheap run of the mill tack, we can literally craft the car to look exactly like you require ,I then make molds of the newly shaped panels and recreate them into fiberglass panels which we then blend onto the car so its smooth (not bolt on billy style) even if its just a new style wing or something let me know if your interested ...........our web page is still under construction
cheers
good luck with it

oh and you definatly need 18's to fill the arches possibly 19's how about some Avez 18" split rims on low profile toyo tyres?
absolutly... house of kolor paint what ever the colour you choose with a very subtle airbrushing to highlight the essential curves and show standard laquer......Flip paint is going to be out of fashion soon and is SOOOOO costly to repair if you chip it or scratch it!!

i saw a 04 350 z convertible and the guy had lowered it, ground efects, and had a speedster cover on it...oh my god it was hot...im tell ya, you got to get that lowered look for the respect, and 350z's are EXTREMLY hot when they are lowered or ground effects are put on them..anyways, just my thoughts

I think you guys got this idea all wrong. Guessing by the fact that Igor is somewhat against the idea of body mods, and the fact of the purchase/installation of all of the performance mods, the car isn't being built for looks but for performance. Body mods serve no purpose but for looks, for the most part. The only thing I would consider (like Igor said) would be a wing of some sort to help with the downforce....Just my opinion.

Well along the lines of preformance and not flash, how about some canards? And some underbody areo pannels (difusers, venturi chanels, etc.) Also dont get a huge wing just get a small spoiler. you dont need a huge spoiler as german super sedans prove. A front lip spoiler will also incerase downforce and look cool. A Rear bumper with difuser would also increase downforce. Lastly A front bumper with a huge hole improves cooling and preformance.

someone said something about weight reduction with a CF hood. i am pretty sure the stock is a couple pounds lighter than a CF hood. hard to belive but true.

You should have a look at the BRS-autodesign wide body for the 350Z. The company looks promising (although their forum is dead).
