I started my car a couple hours ago and there was a loud rattling coming from the engine compartment. I popped the hood and it was coming from the left side of the engine. After the car heated up the
sound went away and didnt come back after driving. This is the first time I noticed it. Currently there is 85k on it. Could it be the timing belt needs replacing? Also, on a camry is there a timing belt or chain??
Thanks

yes, odds are your timing belt needs to be replaced, only noise when cold, camry has a belt,
also should check your water pump , with mileage, would be a good idea to replace while you are in there, need to take off the timing belt to get to the water pump, you dont have to but check it out, timing belt usually every 60 k or so, so you got some good distance out of it,
check the drive belts too, they come off to do the job, replace while they are off

Yeah at 85k I should just do the timing belt now. I will check it in the morning to see if it happens again. I was under the hood last weekend
changing the sparkplugs so I couldve moved something.
Thanks for the help.

Are you sure you didn't leave a tool in the engine compartment? :)
