The difference between a GT and a GTC

I probably shouldn't even be posting here, but since I am too lazy to call up the nearest auto mart to ask them this stupid question, I'm gonna throw it out here. I'm about to buy a '95 LeBaron GTC and I was wondering what EXACTLY a GTC is and if there is any difference between a GTC and any form of a GT. I know it has something to do with the engine, but due to my naivete with cars, i would be grateful if someone could answer this question before i purchase my LeBaron

The only lebaron made in 95 is the 4 speed automatic convertible. there was no GTC in 95, it was a 2 year deal i believe, and it was 92 and 93, for the engine being diff in those, i believe the LX was damn near the same thing as GTC, i think LX only came in automatic and GTC came with the 5 speed and option of the 4 speed. Im not too sure the difference, i know Gt is gran tourismo, but i always thought gtc was gran tourismo convertible but, there was the gtc coupe so as far as helping you with that i cannot, if you want more info on the 95, the web address should be http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/overview.aspx?modelid=627&src=vip i hope that helps, and you can go to a 92 or 93 to see that there is a base convertible and the gtc incase you think i am lying about that 95 not being a gtc or not being a 95...hope i helped some

You sir, tricky8, need to get your facts straight. Let me correct this, and lay down the facts. The biggest difference I know of between the GT and GTC is that you could only get the GT with a Turbo I engine and it did not have a monochromatic paint scheme like the GTC did. Let me break down the LeBaron GTC for you by year:
1988:
The GTC option was offered as a summer special. It got a different suspension, a Turbo I engine, and more options became standard. The GTC did not have a monochromatic paint scheme this year and was only available in white and in a hardtop. The GTC was not a separate model line either. They would take a Highline LeBaron off the assembly line and add the GTC performance package. GTC stands for Gran Touring Coupe. I am not too sure of the engine and transmission options for the 1988 GTC so I won't list them.
1989:
This year the GTC got a new treatment. There was the addition of the monochromatic paint scheme, the new common block was used, the Turbo II engine with the Getrag A-555 was an option, and more options became standard. The GTC was the best and most luxurious LeBaron money could buy. This year the GTC was now available in a hardtop and convertible. Turbo II cars were very rare. The engine/transmission combinations are:
2.5L Turbo I/A-520 manual.
2.5L Turbo I/A-413 automatic.
2.2L Turbo II/A-555 Getrag manual.
1990:
This year there were a lot of changes for the LeBaron. All LeBarons got the treatment of a new re-vamped interior. The GTC also got a new suspension. The Turbo II was also dropped in favor of the new Turbo IV (VNT). This meant a new Getrag A-568 manual, which was an A-555 with better syncros. Turbo IV cars were very rare. There was also a new engine availible the Mitsubishi 3.0L V6 with the problematic A-604 automatic transmission.
2.5L Turbo I/A-523 manual.
2.5L Turbo I/A-413 automatic.
2.2L Turbo IV/A-563 Getrag manual.
3.0L V6/A-604 automatic.
1991:
In 1991 the Turbo IV engine was dropped. The A-563 was used on Turbo I cars, but it was not a Getrag unit.
2.5L Turbo I/A-568 manual.
2.5L Turbo I/A-413 automatic.
3.0L V6/A-604 automatic.
1992:
In 1992 nothing really changed with the GTC. Turbo I cars were very rare for 1992.

3.0L V6/A-604 automatic.
1994-1995:
The only change this year was the removal of the hardtop. You could only get the car in a convertible until the LeBaron's demi9se after the 1995 model year to make way for the new J-body Sebring.

I never said i knew everything :-P although i do have one thing to add, in 92 the 3.0 had manual transmissions, the coupe had it in 5 speed without o/d, gtc coupe, convertible, and gtc conv all had 5 speed with o/d...now this is standard and of course had a/t optional, i got my info from msn autos so if im wrong their info is wrong :-P i do know 92 gtc conv had 5 speed tho cuz thats what i got :-)
