I don't know, it depends... do you have an example picture?

3-spoke alloys are mainly for the Max Power brigade, i.e. people who have no taste and/or are inbred :screwy:

Commonly found on Fiesta's and the like:

I pity the fool who puts this monstrosity on his car:

I've seen three spoke wheels used to good effect, but I wouldn't personally have any. Usually they look tacky, but sometimes, once in a blue moon, they can actually look neat.

Even 4 spokes dont look that nice.

I personally like 6 or 7 spokes. Some 5 spokes look nice too.

I guess some designsdo suit certain cars, though very rarely imo

http://www.sudburys.co.uk/saab/service/images/a4.jpg

Those suit Saabs, but then Saabs are kinda quirky and therefore manage to pull it off..

These, on the other hand:

No excuse :disappoin

Heep

Yeah Saabs can just about always wear 3-spokers, as long as they're somewhat angular. It's the really rounded ones that really gross me out.

I've occasionally seen deep dish 3-spokers used on drift cars, and they often look alright, but they're one of the few exceptions...

the only three spokes i like are Advan Oni's, SA3's, A3A's, or Super Advan Generation II (AKA SA3-R).

all the rest are pretty much nasty.

I think that 4 spokes look a hell of a lot worse than 3. But 3 is still pretty bad. 5 spoke is the best, however. I guess to put them in order from good to bad it would go 5, 6, 7+, 3, 4

I feel the way about 3 spokes as i feel about cauliflower.....

I looks really pretty in the garden, but when it is on the plate, it is just plain ugly to the palate...

I would rather drive around with steel wheels coated with brake dust and curb scratches.....

Or, of course, a nice little set of TE37s...

When it comes to rims, I'm a simple guy. I like my spokes straight, skinny and usually 5. IMO I would never drive a car with 3 spokes, unless it cost over 80 Gs. Then I wouldn't care.

Heep
02-26-2004, 09:01 AM
Yeah drift cars like that usually look alright with them, but it's Civic hatches and Benzes and stuff with these really rounded chrome 3-spoke rims that are just nasty...

On the other hand, I like the Viper with the old original 3-spokers better than the late 90's 5-spokers...

6 5 10 16 wire mesh
17+ 7
8

solid dish
11-15 9
steelies
4
3 2
...
99. the "Spyda" rims that one dumb guy posts every 2 months.

There are some wheels that are worse than tri-spoke and they would have to be the teddy bear wheel covers that I saw on a Honda Beat!

Heep

I can't really list how I like them in order, since some nice 3-spokers look better than nasty busy ugly 5-spokers, and it's always all dependant on what car they're mounted on anyways. For example, a classic Brit roadster usually looks best with nice wire wheels, but they'd look horrible on, say, a Skyline...

02-26-2004, 09:27 PM
Oh I just remembered this. I was looking through this catalog and I saw these 5 spoke rims that where rounded and it was meant to look like a 5 petal flowers. They were even painted yellow.

They were so fruity.
