unusual find in an AMT/ERTL box

Tonight I opened my New AMT/ERTL 1949 merc and was looking at the instructions, I noticed it told me that it came with about 5 different scale tools (hammer, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, etc.) and a floor jack. I was looking through the trees and came across 2 chrome trees one with the car's crome parts including the tools and jack, and one that has some very unusual parts for this car. It has an easil and what i guess is suppost to be the canvas but is chrome, several trophies (one with a car ontop and a chrome plaqe), and 6 poles and stands that look like you run yarn or small ribbon through the holes at the top to rope off the car. I have never built an AMT/Ertl model before so i don't know if this is common, just never heard anything about these. Has anyone else ever built this model, did this tree come with it, or has anyone bought a model with similar parts.
Funniest thing is that these parts are not mentioned in the instructions so i staired at the poles to rope the car off for about 15 minutes trying to figure out what the hell to do with them
Here are some pics.

This kit also came with several tools to help in building the car...they are made of plastic too and were on trees......Not to sure what some of the things are for but will post pictures in a few. It came with tweezers, something that resembles a modeling knife but like is saidi is plastic and is dull, something similar witha dull point, a thing that resembles a tounge depressor, and 2 flat long pieces of grooved plastic that snap together to form a smooth flat piece of plastic...does anyone know what these are for( except the tweezers J/K).
thanks any info would be appreciated.

Back in the 60's, AMT was doing their now famous "Trophy Series" of kits which included tons of customizing parts and lots of little bits for outside the car so that it could be displayed as if at a 1:1 car show.
Some of the kits in the Trophy Series remain some of modeling's true classics, like the AMT 1940 Ford, 1958 Impala, 1953 Studebaker, 1957 Ford Fairlane 500, 1949 Mercury and 1949 Ford, 1932 Deuce Roadster, and 1950 Ford F100.
What is the kit you have? It may be a reissue of an old Trophy Series kit.

sorry but this morning i'm not able to upload the pictures that i took with the same camera as the others less that 10 hours ago. Just keeps telling me "Sorry, this image type (6) is not supported yet."
don't know what that's about, Just a .JPG file.
Anyways, here are the pics that i uploaded right before it stopped letting me of the tools in the kit.

what exactly are they for....only thing i can figure out is maby to use the pointy things for moving decals around on the model but that can't be what there all for.
thanks

Those are for working with putty...
The earlest releases came with a tube of putty and I think there was also additional instructions from George Barris on customizing.

working with putty makes sense for the tools in the 2nd pic, but i don't see how these two long things serve any purpose. They snap together and thats it.
anyone know

sweet i found it, its like a high lift jack, they should put tools in all the kits that would be awsome.

its actually a littel corvette(c4) i bet it could be painted to look like a models model, with maybe a resin littel kid holding it in his hand next to the merc.

The long part looks like a ruler to me
it does have the shape and straightness of a ruler but no numbers or any kind of markings.
Plus like i said they snap together.....so confusing.

the long peices are for holding a peice of sandpaper ... you wrap it around one peice and snap the other peice in place ...

When I first saw the title to this thread, I thought you found a bag of pot or a diamond ring...My next thought was, "He found a model that the parts FIT together correctly."
But what coolie add on parts and tools! Be careful with that 'knife' bro! I like the snap-to sanding bar that's something you can use every model you build.

I got one a few weeks ago, and was stoked to see all the goodies with it. I was suprised to see the 2 engine options, and an engine stand for display of the extra engine. Way cool kit that has some fitment issues, but its meant to cut and chop anyways. I already have 23 inch rims tucked, and plans to chop the top and channel the body.
