How many car accidents have you been in?

Seeing the thread about Jay's car inspired me to make this one. So, how many car accidents have you been involved in? Was it your fault or theirs?

I've been in three.

My first was in my 1985 AMC Jeep Wagoneer. I was sitting at an intersection with no lights for the nothbound and southbound lanes, only stop signs. The other problem is that there were two huge trees blocking your view from both sides. I had been sitting there for a few minuets trying to get across. Finally the guy on the opposite side of the intersection starts to go. So I hurry and look and I can't see anyone so I go for it. All of the sudden there is a white mini-van in front of me and I try to stop but it was too late. I t-boned him and my front bumper caught hit rear wheel well and was ripped off. I left a large dent about half the size of my bump on the side of his van and managed to flatten his tire. My front bumper was ripped off and my headlight surround was smashed. The cost to fix his van was $2,500. I paid for a new bumper, two bumper brackets, and a new turn signal and headlight surround. I instllaed everything myself and ended up paying about $60.00. The accident was, of course, my fault. However, that intersection was the second worst in the city for accidents. I did get those two trees cut down, and the intersection's accident rate reduced.

My second was in my 1989 Chrysler LeBaron GTC Turbo II. I was headed north towards an intersection. The light was green for the north and southbound lanes. There was a Nissan Pathfinder turning left. He attempted to make his turn about 100 feet in front of me. I was going about 50MPH and my skid marks were about 65 feet. I barely had time to slam the brakes. I hit him head on. Once emerging from the car I could tell that it was totaled. Neutrino was riding with me and suffered some brusied ribs and I only suffered some cuts on my arm and knees, thank you airbag! There is no question that it was the other guys fault. I took some satisfaction in the fact that I totaled his Pathfinder and that his airbags didn't go off.

My third accident wasn't even two months after the LeBaron was totaled. I was in my 1994 Eagle Vision TSi. I was headed to school after work for my astronomy class. Traffic came to an abrupt stop by I had no problem comming to a stop with plenty of room. The guy behind me didn't. He hit me and then was hit from behind by his nephew that was following him. The damage to my car was unnoticible, but I missed my class and my test. The Nissan truck that hit me was all bent out of shape and the Geo Tracker that hit him was no doubt totaled.

Around 10. Most of them the other's fault. Three or four were mine. Sounds pretty bad. Oh well.

Only one. A deer ran out of the woods and into the side of my car. Four grand to get the body panels and door replaced. Insurance started to be worth the tens of thousands I've paid into it.

One, partially my fault. A person cut off the guy infront of me where a lane merged, he slammed on his brakes, and I rear-ended him. Luckily we were only going about 25mph.

Thats one reason I really keep my distance (I mean really keep my distance) from the car infront of me. I slow down seeing traffic ahead, downshift, then constantly letting by break light go on and off OR turning on my hazard lights to warn vehicles behind me that there is something ahead, may it be traffic or anything else.

I had one accident. My fault. I rear ended someone beacause i wasnt paying that much attention in my driving. I was trying to pass someone infront of me. Before doing so, I usually look to the left and right to see if its clear to pass. When I was ready to pass after looking both sides (both sides to be safe) it was already too late because the peroson infront of me was breaking due to traffic ahead, so I rear ended someone.

Ow by the way, it was almost two accidents. In the country where I'm from,I almost T-boned a cow crossing the road. Good thing I was able to stop on time because my car would have been the one totaled and not the cow.

I've been in one accident, not my fault. Two lane left turn lane, and the guy in the other lane tried merging into my lane too early and sideswiped me.

3. All in the pathfinder. The first one was when i backed up into a brand new lincoln that was in my driveway. The other two were rear-ends, at the exact same spot on the same road; the bottom of a steep hill in my hometown. The first time i nailed my friends accord, screwed up both of our bumpers, and the second time was an old lady that decided she wanted to take a turn at the last second. No damage.

Actually no! She's rich as hell, and a friend of my mom's. SHe didn't really care, but holy shit, my mom was pissed. So my mom made my file an insurance claim, and up goes my driving record. 3 points. That sucked.

only 2 so far, and none of them have been serious *knocks on wood*

most recent was just a couple of weeks ago. i was backing out of my parking spot in the Tim Hortons parking lot. i had looked all around and was currently looking forward to make sure my nose wouldn't scrape the van beside me. i looked back just in time to see the jack-ass in the spot across from me jump into his MX-3 Precidia and zip back out of his spot without even looking. he slammed into the back of me pretty hard, and i was VERY surprised to find not even a scratch on the 2001 Accord i was driving (my dad's). the MX-3 on the other hand had a nice scrape along his bumper. i gave the guy an ear-ful before heading out.

before that was my Tempest. i was driving to a party. i was doing about 87km/h and noticed my turn at the last second. my car did not have ABS, and there was alot of gravel on the road, so the wheels locked up and my front left wheel hit the 7-inch high curb at about 80km/h. needless to say, the car was totalled. the strut was pushed in about 3 inches, the front corner of the frame was bent in about 3 inches, the CV joint snapped, one of the gears in my transmission shattered, and something else exploded that covered the entire driver's front wheel-well with grease. also, the lip on the steel rim that hit the curb was almost bent back on itself. i wasn't too miffed. the car was only worth about $200 and i didn't think it would've lasted too much longer anyways.

meh.

None so far (technically), but I've been in many nears accidents and I have to say ABS saved my ass a few times. People around here have the tendency to make illegal turns, run lights, stop signs, cut everyone off, and jam their brakes for squirrels, but luckily I don't panic and jam my brakes but swerve and brake. I think if I just jammed my brakes like they do i'd have rear-ended someone by now. Trying to keep my record clean so my insurance doesn't go up any higher.

I did however tap my own car with my other car. I was backing up slowly as usual and felt it hit my other car but when I got out there was no damage not even a scratch, my heart stopped for a second though.

Hmm.. none with me behind the wheel, but once in my sisters cavalier, she was making a left on a green light while an accord came into the left turn lane on the street my sister was turning onto. Only dinged the corners, nothing major.

My second time with my permit, I was driving to school behind a bus, about to make a left into the school parking lot. The sunlight was directly in our eyes, so as the bus made the left into the lot, a car came up to make a left from the lot (hmm.. sounds familiar) and smack. The bus kept going for a couple seconds after the accident so the car was flung back and back onto a little median, grassy type thing. Then, the scariest thing I've ever seen happened. The woman was getting out of the car but suddenly the car shot forward, throwing the woman out and speeding towards a group of parked cars. It bounced off a lincoln and smashed into a tree. My dad ran out and turned the ignition off. Missed 3 periods of school talking to police and what not.

Which brings me to ask.. what can cause a car to slip into gear and launch forward on its own? Satan?

Two - both my fault.
1st - did a handbrake turn around a corner and there was sand on the road. Slid into the gutter and fucked a couple of panels, some major suspension components and engine components.

2nd - Road just resurfaced. Lost control around a corner and rolled onto roof.

Walked away unscratched from both. Cost me a total of about $7k au, or $4.5k US.

When I was 16 I drove an eighty something dodge ram van, and I was stopped at a stopsign one evening. I saw a truck coming my way, but he was slowing down and had his turn signal on so it was good to go. Unfortunately he was pretty drunk and changed his mind as soon as i was crossing. I heard that moron floor it and so i floored it too trying to get out of his way. Not quickly enough though, he almost Tboned me (whew), and wound up clipping the rear end, and taking one of my wheels with him.

Ok, heres where it gets bad.

He gets out of his truck with a *gulp* shotgun in hand screaming and yelling at me so i ran my ass off into a wheat field and got on my cell phone.
(Sidenote: This is happening in a backwards potunk little town in kansas.. hence wheatfields and shotgun wielding drunken rednecks) When the police car arrived he had calmed down and seemed almost normal. I was watching from behind my van and there was no way in hell I was going near him.

This is where is gets ridiculous

The sherrif of goddard ks spends a few minutes talking to him and they start to laugh and the guy in the truck drives off. Mr. Law Enforcement walks over to me, and proceeds to write me a ticket for failure to yield to right of way. Im willing to bet money they were buddies, arent you?

Three:

1. Turned left across lanes when oncoming traffic wasn't clear. Ruled my fault. Shoulda been a third-party's fault as she waved me across as being clear to go.

2. Rear-ended a guy on the freeway in slow traffic. < 3mph. No damage. Not reported. My fault anyway.

3. Lady in Cherokee pulls out in front of me from a driveway. Her fault, pending her insurance agent's approval...

I’ve been in two (neither of them my fault).

The first one I had only had my licence for a few months when I wrote my Dad’s car off after a woman went through a red light and the second was only minor when someone came out of a side street (not stopping at the Stop sign) and hitting my front bumper. They then drove off without stopping and the police were unable to find the person as the car was unregistered.

Got a minor nudge from a Piazza once in the Jetta, couldn't be bothered fixing it as the damage was minor to non-existant.

Then One day I was driving the JEtta to the gym, I was distracted by something at the roadside, whjile a lady turned into her drive, there was a truck in between me and her, the truck stopped, I didn't. It was a pretty meety lorry as well, the Jetta got a bent bonnet, bust radiator, twisted front quarter panel (right) and destroyed front fascia. Otherwise the car was well intact, not bad for 60-70 Km/h. But the panel beater said he could't source any headlights (Which I reckon is a damned lie, he just hated Euro cars) and I decided to auction it off at Turners. Big mistake, I'd have gotten way more if I'd parted it out, only got $300 at Turners, for my $4000 car.

Then the other one was about a month ago, was coming home from the gym, entered the Cul de sac (on a downward gradient it is) and the old git from a few houses over was backing his 121 UP the gradient, basically I was sitting there in the Civic wondering wtf is gonig on he basically didn't seem to notice me and backed right into me. The front bumper was pushed back about 7mm, but otherwise the car was fine. The stupid old fart didn't even say sorry.

First one was pretty funny, reverse my Renault 19 through a fence into a flower bed, just a few scrapes.

Then there was the dumbass in the CRX showing off, basically got a huge bout of understeer, took a corner WAY wide and hit my parked XR8, destroying it. Was extremely pissed.

After that, this one being in Italy, I was driving down a 2 lane road, Fedex van was driving fast behind in the left lane, I wanted to move into that lane, Fedex guy doesn't let me in and cuts me off, sends me jerking back into the right lane well the delivery truck behind me seemed to think the Fedex driver would let me in, so sped up, basically the right side of my car got hit with velocity, pushing it into a BMW in the right lane. The van driver (well, Fedex) payed out, as I got signed witness statements and had the van rego plates, as he was the cause of the accident.

Also backed the Bimmer into a pillar recently big scratch down back end, taking it to the painters next week.

I have been in one accident. It was not my fault. I got rear-ended about two months ago. Iwas at a stop sign about to go and the guy behind hit his accelerator to hard and hit me from behind. The bumper was totaled. It was $1500 to repair the car and get a new bumper.

Only one accident for me. I was heading to school last March right after a bad blizzard hit. I had only had my liscense for 2 months, so I wasn't quite prepared. I was driving my 1997 Explorer V8 AWD and my friend in a mid 90's Isuzu Rodeo slammed on the breaks right after a icy patch about half a block from the intersection, so I didn't know he was full out stopping. I slid into him and totally Fu(ked up his entire rear end. It cost me $1800 for his car and about $150 for mine (we didn't reort it to the insurance cmpany). All that happened to the Explorer was a cracked headlight and a scratch on the bumper. It totally depleted my bank account and killed all my plans for my car. And that kids, is why friends don't let friends drive Rodeos.

I've been in one accident

One time I was goin to a friend's party, and when I was driving to their house these kids (dude's sister's friends) came out and wanted to go to another party. So I was in my Civic DX tryin to park but they were in the way, and then they kept asking for me to give em a ride a couple of blocks away, they wanted to go to another party.

So I'm like no, I don't know who the hell they are and if it's that close them lazy asses can walk. But then my stupid retarded ass friend came out and said that it was really close, and that I should give em a ride. So I was like alright then, i'll drop these bitches off and come back. So they get into the car (4 big black people tryin to fit in my small ass Civic DX) and then they start messing with the stereo.

I was backing out of the driveway, then one of em found the track "Move Bitch" and then turned it super loud. Then all these jackasses start jumping up and down, and I can't see behind the car. So I keep backing up thinking I will play it safe and not go too far back, so I keep reversing then hear a "BUMP!* Then I was like "Oh shit!" The jackasses in the back stopped jumping and all looked behind and just grunted "it's alright man go." So then I got the fuck out of there, dropped em off, and came back. I was paranoid as hell and didn't notice that I passed the house. Finally I came back, parked, and looked at my car and the car I hit. My car had no damage, and I glanced at the other car but didn't see any scratches or dents of any kind, and also there wasn't anyone else around except my friends so I thought I was straight. So then I went in and we all chilled for about 10 minutes until my friend said there's an angry redneck neighbor knocking at his door who's asking whoever hit that car to come out.

So I was nervous but came out, he kept bitching and saying if it was me, I said yea but I didn't see any damage. So me, my friend, and that neighbor (not even his car, he was just being an asswipe) were outside for 20 minutes straight while he kept trying to find damage on the car. He kept putting light on it, 1,000 different angles, but there was no scratch or dent ot be found.

Then there was this white skid mark on the bumper, then he said I did that, even though I backed out onto the left side and didn't touch the bumper. He kept accusing me of this crap and I said it obviously wasn't me. Then he wanted my number or some crap but my friend just told him that we'll contact the dude directly, put a sticky note. So this neighbor who has nothing better to do finally just goes inside his house and says he'll be checking up on us. Well after I get in, I feel all pissed off and paranoid. Couldn't even drink that night. Everyone was havin fun and drunk while I was sober, paranoid, and pissed off, that night sucked...

Another time I was with my friend, we took a wrong turn and then he panicked and just did a quick U-turn out of nowhere on a busy street. Some women behind us was goin like 30 mph and hit us straight on the left fender side, messed it up. It was my dumbass friend's first car, a new mustang 2003 at the time, he got so pissed off he punched the cement sidewalk with his knuckles and was like "ow."

2nd - Road just resurfaced. Lost control around a corner and rolled onto roof.

Me too. I rolled my mom's Toyota Corolla while driving fast in a canyon(don't laugh, read the sig). It was a slight left hander. I was going about 70 and when I started to turn the steering wheel, it understeered right away. I probably jerked the steering wheel adrupting (sp?) the traction of the car. I was understeering and I was by the edge of a cliff. This translates into one thing....FUCK. I fly off the cliff and the car rolls down about 100 feet and lands on the top. I turned the car off so nothin blows up.

The scariest part, was figuring out what to tell my dad. The whole day, I felt like I was in the principals office back in junior high waiting for the dean to call my dad.

That one mistake has pretty much ruined this part of my life.

One. Motherfucker caused my car $1k of damage on purpose

Was trying to change lane, bus driver wouldnt let me go. This happened once more, and then he finally appeared to let me go. So i turn into his lane but there's another car straight ahead so i come to a stop but im still not straight. The bus driver then proceeds to accelerate (with me stationary in front of him) into the side of my car, scraping half the side of my car at low speed before gently stopping. Y'see, what i went on to learn is that bus drivers are allowed 3 accidents per month every month before they get fired, and this was on the 23rd of Sep, so he probably had some "accident allowance" remaining. When he got out of the bus he said "what do u expect if u challenge me?", what a fucking retard, I wanted to break his face.

Anyway, the accident was deemed to be 100% my fault, naturally, because I was changing lane, and they wouldnt accept my passenger's statement because she would be biased. There was one guy on the bus who told me it was the bus driver did it on purpose but he wouldnt give me his details or want to wait around to give a statement to the cops, must have had something to hide. Anyway, that's about it, so apart from one asshole hitting my car on purpose, 0 accidents.

3 come to think of it, 2 where I was driving, 0 where I was at fault.

1st was on a swim trim, the state swim trip to be exact. Prior to the meet the bus driver took us all to up-Chuck-o-Rama, and when it was time to leave we all boarded the bus, which was parallel-parked on the street. The bus driver walked all the way around the back because she needed to back up, and wanted to make sure she didn't back over anything.
As she was getting into the bus some dumbass in a Saturn pulled in right behind us...I mean, 6" off the bumper-right-behind-us.
She already checked behind the bus and he was pulled in so close it was impossible to see that little Saturn in the mirrors (think like a power-wheels pulled in 6" behind a normal car) and so she backed up...right over his car. Took all the paint off the first foot of the hood and flattened that little hood ridge they have. I think technically she got cited but it was his stupid fault for parking in a bus's blind spot.

2nd I was stopped at a stop sign in my ex-Sentra, behind two other cars, and looked into my rearview to see a Hyundai Excell accellerating into the back of my car. I didn't have time to think and turned my head around to look...DON'T DO THIS!! I have permanent car-wreck-neck from having my head turned around at impact!
Damage was merely scrapes to the bumper, and it was a black car w/ a black plastic bumper so you couldn't even tell. Also had to adjust the trunk latch but no biggie at all. $500 for me but the Hyundai was totaled, hood bent, bumper gone, headlights gone, grille gone, backseat broken, etc. Impact speed about 15-20.

3rd I was driving downhill in a 45, going slightly under the limit when a old guy (85) in a big-ass Chrysler pulled out in front of me, making an illegal left across a double-yellow AND violating my right-of-way. He stopped dead in my lane, and I couldn't switch because there was a maroon Mazda of some sort next to me. I honked and laid on the brakes but he did not move so I hit him. Totaled my car w/ damage to hood, driver's side front fender, headlight, grille, frame, and radiator was bent but functional. Old guy's car had rear driver's fender damaged, rear driver's door damaged, rear driver's wheel bent in, axle shot, rear bumper shot, trunk lid shot, etc.

Hopefully that's the last of them. :)

No. I can't stand watching a movie knowing the whole thing is fake and between each scene the actors have a drink of water or whatever the hell they do. I watch porn instead.

LMAO :grinno: .

I have had 3 accidents.

The first 2 were in the Protege...
1. Waiting in a right turn merging lane the car is front of me should have gone already, but anyways, my foot lifted off the brake and I rolled into his 1978 LTD. He started bitchin' about how he better not see a scratch on the bumper becasue it's just been replaced, even though for some reason, I saw rust on it. :screwy: So, basically, no damage, didn't even exchange names.
2. Again in the Protege...In Minnesota during the long ass winter season, waiting at a stop sign, looking both ways so I could do a U turnin the middle of the intersection and park in a place behind me...pulled out into the intersection, and saw a Buick Park Avenue heading my. Tried to get out of the way, but because of the snow, just spun the tires...Buick T-boned me going at least 10...got out of the car and the bitch on the buick is such in a hurry she didnt get out of hers, she just kept asking me "Is everything alright?" I looked at the Mazda, and everything looked okay, so I let her go...until I washed the snow off and saw a cute little dent on my right side passenger door... :banghead:
Of course, this could have been avoided, because Minnesota is a No-Fault state.

3. This was in the Supra. Sitting at intersection, light turns green, I gun it (for no reason, do I need one?) 1.5 seconds I realized I should have waited and watched for idiots running the light, because at that moment I got hit by one. The other car was a brand new Cadillac XTC  going at least 45 that pounded the SHIT out of my left rear quarter. The impact was so intense that both windows on both sides burst, resulting in an instant depressurizing of the Supra. Both my ears popped and I did 3 complete spins before hitting the curb. That accident made me late for work but was worth over $17,000 :icon16:

i hit two deer on 2 seperate occasions about 3 years apart. one was a buck that decimated my car and the other was a doe that got obliterated. some old man hit me cuz he's a stupid old fogey who wasn't paying attention. and then there were a few where i was just being an idiot. whacked a couple curbs, rearended my friend @ 2mph and somehow cracked my damn radiator in an 87 pontiac 6000. I'd say about 8 all in all but i don't like to count the 2 deer or the old man cuz they were unavoidable.

ive been in a couple of fender benders, ie, me rearended...twice...back to back days. Ya niether was my fault either.

The first was on my way home from football practice, and the team was all in the big caravan. I was pulling up to a stop light and the kid behind me (a lineman...of course) was not paying attention and had to mash his brakes. Unfortunately, it was to late, and he ended up hitting me. Luckily it was very low speed, so the only damage to my car was a dented license plate. His car, however, a late model eagle talon, got its front end pretty messed up.

The second, the next day, was on the way to school, i was coming up on a street that turned right, and i was heading straight, and a car coming the other way turned left onto this street, and a car turning off that street turned in front of me, cutting me off. So i had to hit my brakes, and the girl behind me, also from my school, and even in my first hour class, hit me, bent my license plate pretty bad and scratched my bumber. Her car, a 97-is saturn 4 door, got its hood really scratched and tore the emblem off. It was her 5th accident, so her parents revoked her license.

So i guess neither of them were really accidents, cuz there was really no damage to my car. But they did suck and my parents were still amd, you know how parents are. No matter how not your fault it is, it is still your fault.

my only one so far, just 16, was when my car was in the shop and i had to take the rent's 02 accord EX to school. on this one former highway stretch, there is a school zone that is active aroudn the time that i have to head to school, everyone goes like 70 down the street then slows down real fast when they hit the school zone. my friends and i were running late already, like everyday, and when we hit the school zone, we slowed down like usual, but the chick behind me was like putting make-up on or some shit and rear ended me. she was driving like a 80s geo metro, but when she stopped, she stopped so fast that the nose of her car went down and just barely scraped the rear bumper of the accord. when i got out, the girl, a cheerleader, was crying and babbling some incoherent words, so i just let it go. scared the shit outta me though.

I've only been in one accident accident. I wasnt driving cuz i was like..14. But my dad hit a deer that jumped in front of us in my moms 98 4Runner. huge ass dent in the front left quarter panel, broken headlight stuff like that. I love how New York deer like to get hit and then lay across the hood. :screwy:

Then when i got my liscense, ah just a few snow banks no damage or other cars. And backing into the fence behind my parking area at my house. no damage just poor judgement :icon16:

None. But I have only been driving for a little less than a year, and knowing how many assholes that consider themselves kings/queens-of the-road are around here, I'm sure there are some just around the bend for me.

Only one. A deer ran out of the woods and into the side of my car. Four grand to get the body panels and door replaced. Insurance started to be worth the tens of thousands I've paid into it.
HA-HA......... :loser:

j/k.......but did you fuck that deer up or did he get the last laugh?
