PLEASE help, ASAP!
I'm leasing a 2001 Rodeo with the 4 cyl...lease is up in a couple of weeks, and warranty just expired a month ago...the check engine light is on and they're telling me it's the Cam Sensor (?) and it'll cost around $400 to fix it!?!?! the dealer claims that isnt covered under powertrain warranty, and basically i'm out of luck since the bumper-to-bumper warranty expired last month.
Funny thing is, I had it in 2 weeks ago for the check engine light, and they replaced the fuel pump assembly, and the light came on the very next day. So this problem happened overnight, literally???
I think I"m getting screwed. ANY help or advice, please let me know. I'm turning the vehicle in off of the lease in a week or so and have no clue what to do.

disconnect the battery (15 minutes at least) and see if the CEL comes back on. If it stays off for a few days, you do this right before you turn it in.
Or maybe you can find out where the sensor is, Pull it out clean it up and re-install it.
Or just have the dealer (or other place) just replace it.

how many miles are on this Rodeo if you are under 60,000 it is covered you have a 5 yr 60,000 mile warranty and your drivetrain warranty is 10 yr 120,000 miles if this was a new lease

thanks for the info...actually, my Rodeo only has 36,200 miles on it..it's a 2001 model. I was told it had a 3 yr/36k mile bumper/bumper warranty, and that ended at the end of December, and that this 'cam sensor' isnt part of the powertrain..
maybe they're trying to screw me on my warranty?

Nope it is 3yr/50k.
They are trying to screw you over. You may want to get in contact with your regional rep to help educate your dealer, and give Corp Isuzu a call too to help out.
Also, you should print and fax off the above link and read through your manual in the glove box for more ammo.

hey buddy...thanks, I appreciate the info..but the issue is, the car turned 3 yrs old at the beginning of January. I asked them since I had it in for this problem originally only *2-3 weeks* after it hit the 3 year mark if they could go ahead and cover it under warranty, and they said NO.

If your lease start on Jan01 then you are correct. Some dealers will do warrenty work under good faith if it is only a couple of wks or miles out of warranty. You could take it to another dealer (if that is an option) and see what they think, or just get it fixed.

Here's what I would suggest you do first.
Go to an AutoZone or some similar parts store
where they will do a free diagnostic check.
They will hook up a monitor to an interface
usually located under the dash. That will
give you a code and tell you what's the problem.
Use the code to look up the Chilton's manual. In
my case, I traced the problem back to a fuse
using their circuit diagrams. I replaced the fuse
in the fuse box and the light went out.
Hopefully it'll work for you. Let us know how
it goes.
